Babylonia end?

After the defeat of Tiamat, and with the death of Gilgamesh, what hapened with the citizens? (I know that they all died, but so... how did humanity keept going?)
I was reading the part (section19) where Gil said that their fought was not is vain and what happened would not be forgotten and the lives losted would not be restored. He also said that his kingdom as the fifth king was over and it would continuos with the sixth king (Ur-Nungal, probably) but how if everyone is dead? (Including probably Ur?)
I really didn't get that... so if someone could explain it to me I would be very thankfull.

You need to reconcile with real history a bit.

In history, Gilgamesh always died. And humanity survived after his death as well.

Not everyone died in the singularity, they did say that about 500 survived?

it dropped even lower than that. At one point it was You and your servants, Gilgamesh and 8 soldiers.

Yeah, because most civilians were evacuated to Nippur before Tiamat arrives to Uruk.

Well then the singularity would fix itself and any damages or deaths caused by Tiamat would never happen.
