Should i pay for quartz?

I've been debating on paying for quartz, since my luck in the Edmonds gacha is horrible. Should i pay for quartz?

It's really up to you. If you don't have anything else you need or want, go ahead and buy some quartz. I will warn you, however, buying quartz may lead to an addiction down the road.
I only buy quartz when I have play store credit saved up from the Google Survey Rewards app.

I agree with Assix, it can be addicting. I've only paid for Quarts on the Guaranteed 5 star summon around Thanksgiving, which ended up being worth my money, and around Christmas with a gift card my wife got me, which was not....any where near as worth it, which is huge gut punch feeling and easy to lead to spending more as a result. I'd suggest setting some serious self-limits on spending if you do want to buy some quarts.

If you can afford to pay for quartz without impacting your important finances, then go ahead. You shoud also always draw a limit as it can lead to addiction.

Nah, I don't think you should. Here is my tip for gacha games: Unless the rates are actually fair, or there is a sale, never spend money.
Spending, let's say, 50$ can easily provoke a sunk cost fallacy mentality to where, until you actually get a 5 star, you will want to spend even more money. The only generous gacha game I have encountered rate-wise is Fire Emblem Heroes. Another good sign is if people consistently don't get a 5 star within their first 3 months of playing, don't spend money on the game.
Note: This applies to me. 3 months of playing, still no 5 star.

I absolutely agree. I have been playing this game since December and have not hit that 1% chance in the gacha once either.

I currently am saving all my free quartz and tickets for a chance to get a certain Alter Chulainn when he gets rated up (by my calculations I should be able to save enough for 60 or so rolls by the time of that event), but even then I am not going to spend any money considering how harsh F/GO's droprates are.

I use mainly 3-Star Servants despite having some decent 4-Stars. With the right strategy you can overwhelm even the strongest enemies with mediocre servants, so there is never a neccessity for 5-Stars. The only time I would be willing to pay for the game would be a guaranteed 5-Star.

TL;DR do not pay for any servants if you want to improve your team, strategy does the job. If there is a servant you desperately want set priorities and save up all tickets and quartz during events and story playing until he/she gets boosted (again).

Honestly, that was what I thought as well. I thought that you can only get a 5-star if you summon using paid quartz. I started playing mid January, and I didn't get my first 5-star, Mordred, until I was lvl 85 (30 free sq pull). I got my second, Altria, just a few days ago from the singularity banner and I'm currently lvl 96 (and from a 3 free sq pull too!). I believe it's not necessarily the total amount of time you've spent playing the game, but rather your level that increases your chances.

I thought I'd never get a 5-star as a F2P player, so I just made the most out of my 3 and 4-stars and even grailed Cu Chulain up to level 80. I totally understand the feeling of discouragement you get when you save up so much quartz and tickets, use them all, and end up not getting any good servants. My best advice is just to keep playing, focus on leveling yourself as a master and you might have a better chance in summoning SSRs once you hit lvl 80-100! Of course, some may have better luck and end up getting 5-stars much earlier than that. Just be patient and be happy with your current servants for now.
