**could you add in your response if you’d like more different class battles or if you think that may get away from the spirit of these debates or make a mess of things lol**

Had to go out of class for these two as they don’t have any piers really. So this one is a highly survivable servant with less attack power against a squishier servant with more damage potential.

Martha has good survivability thanks to her class, but that also means she isn’t usually the best choice for damage thanks to her class. There’s usually someone better with a class advantage to do the damage. But she’ll be tough to kill outside of Avengers and her 3rd skill adds a high damage buff to a range of enemies.

Gorgon on the other hand has a tendency for dying a little too soon in battle...this is from personal experience! While Avengers are more useful against beserkers and rulers, Gorgons Crit Damage and NP damage (after interlude especially) can make up for that. Though she does need the right CE or team to boost her star absorption rate. But in doing that, she can dish of ridiculous amounts of damage, again, from personal experience lol. At least she does have a guts for some survivability.

I'm gonna go with Martha on this one. She can do pretty good damage against divine enemies (hello Heracles) with her third skill, along with decent star weight and good survivability. She does suffer from a lack of class advantage, but so does gorgon, and gorgon has a notably harder time staying alive than Martha. Martha also is the only single target ruler so far even in JP, which makes her more or less unique, compared to another AOE Avenger. all in all, I think that the survival really pushes this one in Martha's favor.

also I do like this cross class comparison, and would love to see it again.

Now this is a tough one. Probably the only match-up where I don't have an opinion right off the bat. I've used both but it doesn't make it any easier to decide.

Martha is a tank, plain and simple. One that, unlike her other saintly counterpart, was meant to hit back and not just stand there taking it like a stone wall. Her Ruler class essentially doubles her HP except against Berserkers and Avengers, and she has a hefty 3k heal at max level (with a 5 turn cooldown at level 10) which also includes a one-time debuff immunity that does not wear off until used up. Her passive debuff resist is also EX rank, providing a 25% natural debuff resistance, making it harder to weaken her. Her NP battery is fairly decent at 30% and her anti-demon, divine, and undead atk buff is significant at a 100% boost. Her NP also comes with a Def debuff, all but guaranteeing that any enemy that falls within her third skill's range will suffer if she manages to land an NPBB chain on them.

Her downsides, unfortunately, are also found in both her class and skills. As a Ruler, her damage has a passive x1.1 modifier like the Avenger and Berserker class, but it also means she only does increased damage against Berserkers and Moon Cancers (and only BB falls under this class) while landing only neutral damage to all others. Despite her atk buffs and Buster heavy card set, her class limits how much damage she can deal. Her skills, on the other hand, have quite a few limitations that further limit her DPS potential. In order to grant her the ATK buff, her first skill relies on a waterside map, which aren't very common to begin with. Her third skill only lasts one turn, making timing tight and crucial (ready-to-use NP plus two Buster cards) in order to deal maximum damage in that one turn provided the enemy is of the right classification.

Gorgon, on the other hand, is much like her fellow Avengers. Hit hard, then hit harder. About to die? Hit hard enough to kill them before they kill you. Or, in Gorgon's case, hit them with her Mystic Eyes and stun them. Monstrous Strength grants a 50% ATK buff while Demonic Mutation grants a further 50% crit buff in addition to her natural crit buff as an Avenger. And if they still manage to hit back, her Demonic Mutation grants her a 1-time 5-turn Guts that recovers 3k HP at max level. Her NP, being AoE, doesn't hit as hard but makes up for it with a 5-turn, 1k damage Curse that scales with overcharge and also grants a bit of team support with a Party-wide 10% NP gauge charge (15% after her interlude). Combined with her passive NP gain and bonus NP gain when attacked, she'll be using her NP more often than other Buster types normally do.

Sadly, Gorgon lacks quite a few things. Her atk buff, for all its power and despite the 5-turn cooldown, lasts only a single turn. Her crit damage up is limited by her very low star weight, requiring the use of a CE to boost her star absorption rate. Her Mystic Eyes may have a 105% chance success rate at max level, but it only hits one enemy and takes 6 turns to cooldown. And against the wrong enemy, it could still be resisted. Her NP gain bonus when attacked helps build up her NP, but the it becomes a double-edged sword due to her low HP pool. And while the only classes that hit Avengers hard are Berserker and Moon Cancer (again, held only by BB) the only class they resist is Ruler, leaving them to take normal damage from all other classes (which can still hit hard under the right circumstances).

Both Martha and Gorgon seem fairly even, and the right team can and will make a massive difference in their performance, but I think I'll be siding with Martha on this one. She may not deal a lot of damage, but her tankiness means she can stay on the field longer, leading to more damage dealt as the turns pass.

**Let me know if you guys would like more cross class comparisons in the future with these**

Thanks!

I think it's rather interesting, but only if the comparisons make sense, and present a real comparison that has to be made in terms of their viability and desirability.

I have both of them and I have to say they are both pretty powerful.

Martha: survives longer + a potential boss killer due to her skills.
BUT: has no damage steroid outside of divine and undead
enemies, and the second effect of her 1st skill is
rarely even utilized due "waterside" places are
scarce.

Gorgon: wave clear + can stall for a bit with her mystic eyes +
powerful attack buff + pretty high NP gain
BUT: She won't survive as long because of low HP and
unlike Martha, even a large, crit-spamming dragon
will instantly kill her on the spot when she doesn't
have her guts on.

I like Martha but I'm gonna go for Gorgon in this one for the sole reason that this game is mostly about farming and farming.

Gorgon has the highest attack stats among all SR servants, and with that she could easily replace any other SR's job in wave clearing with good investment (not only bcoz of her Avenger perks but also can survive longer than berserkers).

When the 2000 max fou is added, you will instantly have a Buster SSR tier Avenger in Gorgon especially if you grail her to at least lvl 90.

Yep, I have grailed both of them.

Martha is in a bit of an odd place as a servant, due to her Ruler classing and playstyle. As a Ruler, she recieves less damage from all classes apart from Avengers and Berserkers, but her Buster gorilla deck gives her the most damage potential of any Ruler in the game so far. Her NP is a unique ST Buster that inflicts overchargable Def-down BEFORE she deals the real damage, and her kit is suited to increase her damage potential with NP-Buster chains. Her skills include an NP gain (with a situational Attack buff), a heal that also protects from one debuff, and the other allowing her special damage against Undead, Demonic, and Divine enemies. However, her main downside comes with the fact that she can only deal neutral damage to most enemies other than Berserkers, and some of her skills only shine in niche situations. However, she can supply herself a rather decent amount of stars, dish out damage rather consistently, and absorb hits very effeciently, making her a rather balanced and versatile pick for me.

As an Avenger, Gorgon's main edge is her sheer damage potential. Her classing allows her to deal increased damage, and her crit attacks are absolutely devestating. She can boost her attack for a single turn, provide a reliable universal stun, and her NP is an AoE that can be chained with her Buster cards and refund 10% NP charge for her team. However, her ability to throw hits comes with a sore disadvantage in terms of her survivability. Her Guts is her only defensive move, and she relies heavily on her team to generate stars to supply her enormous crit damage and to generate NP for her.

I'll have to go with Martha, because while Gorgon can hit harder, Martha is no slouch and can hold her own very well as a Ruler both offensively and defensively. Her damage is very respectable for a Ruler, and can be relied on to reliably tank hits and debuffs and hit back harder. In any stage with a sea nearby, Martha's strength is more apparent than ever, outclassing Gorgon due to her inability to operate well independently.

(also, Martha can be absolutely frightening with Merlin backing her, boosting her crits and Buster damage.)

For me I’d pick Gorgon. Martha is likely the more useful of the two but the fact that Avengers are harder to come by overall means I’d pick her even if she isn’t as useful as Martha is. Also The different class comparisons I find kind of interesting so I wouldn’t mind them every now and then.

Duh I’m stupid I misread the start and thought it was Rider Martha, being Ruler Martha I’d Change my vote and go with her since I like that she’s a bit more tanky and can still Hit decently enough.

I would choose Gorgon.
Martha is in a strange place as a damage ruler. Her only good points are her survivability, and the damage buff. Being the only ruler with a single target NP doesn't mean much, when a single target Avenger NP is always at least as good.
Gorgon on the other hand needs support to do her job. Her AOE NP is great against groups of smaller enemies, and her crits take care of the big ones. She could use some healing and defense buffs, and of course she needs someone to generate crit stars for her, but overall I consider her to be better with proper support.
In short, without any support Martha is better. With good support, I think Gorgon is.
**Different class battles are good and interesting, but it's probably harder to find good pairs. Avenger and Ruler are both special classes in this way so it makes them easier to compare.**
