Do you take the same supports and CEs every time? Support skill levels might affect how much NP damage has and maybe did you level your CE equipped or changed it?
That's the only things I could think of.

So while farming, even though I take the exact same steps every single time, the NP damage keeps varying. Why does this happen?
Edit: Thanks for the fast reply guys! But really why do we have to deal with rng even when just dealing damage :/

Yes, I made sure before running the same quests 3 times in a row. Does it not happen to you?
Have a look through this:

There's always an (arguably small) deviation built into the damage formula. It's basically a bit of RNG every time - which is why you want to make sure to not try to do an exact amount of damage but overkill a little bit.
Don't forget about the various Earth/Sky/Main/etc. Traits either. They have an impact on damage as well - although since you mentioned running the same quest, this isn't relevant for this particular experiment.
Hope that helped!
Ah come to think of it...Damn ignored that since Da Vinci said it's not really important...
Thanks! It's not an experiment per se. I was just trying to consistently kill the enemy with the first 2 NPs so that my 3rd NP hit another enemy. Didn't want to waste OC.
Then you if not then the enemy buffs? Or maybe your servant has damage increase with Overcharge like how Jack has higher damage to females with higher overcharge and Da Vinci's NP hurts more with higjer overcharge?
I read somewhere that there is an RNG-based damage modifier ranging from 0.9-1.1 that gets applied to every attack. That'd probably be it.
Isn't that the same as in every game?
The way games calculate damage always has a minimum damage and a maximum damage. Even if it flat out says that the damage is 600% of your attack, there's them invisible numbers liek 1~9. The system picks it at random whether you'll get a low number or a high number then uses that to compute your damage. That's why even if you, say, put a Buster card in slot 1 over and over vs the same enemy and situation. The damage will not always be the same. This is the case in almost all mmorpgs afaik.
