Is merlin worth it

As a relatively new F2p player (almost 2 months) is it worth it to save for Merlin? I currently have 88 quartz and i'm about half way through Okeanos.
I've also heard it's not worth pulling without at least 300 quartz is that true?

Yes, it's worth saving for Merlin, he is the best support (and servant) in the game. About the number of quartz, the more, the better, but i already got the SSR i wanted with less investiment. It isn't garanteed, tho, so i sugest you, if you realy want merlin and aready have some decent damage dealers, save those quartz

Merlin fits best on Buster and Buster Crit teams specifically as he has skills that increase Buster attacks and a party wide invincibility. His NP gives party wide heals, increases NP gauge for 5 turns and gives critical stars on overcharge. If you're running an Arts team, I think you can give him a pass if you're saving for someone else.

The 300 quartz computation can be checked with this site: https://shipfu.moe/fgo/ as it increases your chance of getting Merlin to 50% on a solo rate up banner.

Hope this helps!

Nothing is "not worth pulling without at least 300 quartz", it's more accurate to say: don't necessarily expect to get the servant you want if you roll with less than that. Honestly the gacha is always just a matter of luck. You could spend 1 ticket and pull Merlin, you could spend 1000 quartz and not get him. Depends on how lucky you are. For some hard numbers, it takes around 300 quartz for an approximate 50% chance to get a rate-up 5 star servant.

As for whether Merlin is worth saving for, absolutely - he is. He is so broken it has literally become a meme. He fits well into practically any team and makes it better (best for buster damage dealers though). His biggest strength is that he does practically EVERYTHING that you could want a support servant to do: charges party's NP guage, generates stars, heals, provides party-wide invinciblity, party-wide attack buff, and he has a buster card buff and crit damage buff for good measure.

In addition to all that, despite a lot of people having him in their support slot for you to use, Merlin is one of the few servants who would work amazingly in a double up (ie, running 2 of him in the same team), so even if you have lots of him in your support, it still isn't a waste to get one for yourself so you have the option to double up.

He is literally the one servant on rate-up this year who I can unequivocally say that you will not go wrong rolling for. He fits into practically every team, so there are no issues with synergy with your current servants, and he benefits you a lot even when you run two of him.

Roll for who you like above all, but from a purely gameplay perspective, if there is any servant you should be saving quartz for this year, it's Merlin.

He is absolutely worth it even if u hv to spend 1000sq on him..I tried him in my jp acct and he can make my mediocre f2p jp servants great....can u imagine what he can do for your better servants.
