Why does revealing that Moriarty was the mastermind at the end cause him to lose all his power? I feel like I kind of missed the point of that bit with the other detectives having us call him out on that... it's like yeah... obviously he did it? Maybe I'm missing something obvious here haha.

Because the singularity functioned on stories. It was set up as a murder plot, starring one of the most well known villains from a mystery series.

And does a detective story end when you know who the bad guy is? No, it ends when the culprit has been revealed and admits their crimes.

Moriarty fell into the trap of thinking he was outside the story because he was organizing it, narrating it. But he was a part of it all along.

(Plus, Fate runs on perception of events rather than actualities.)

Hmm So from what I'm gathering, Moriarty's "story" or goal in this was to craft the perfect crime of the murder of us (Guda(k)o) in such a way that whatever storytelling force governing Shinjuku would not be able to put the blame of the crime on him, and thus he wouldn't be labeled the villain that must be caught. So what Guda(k)o does at the end is re-situate Moriarty's role in the story universe as the true culprit, and thus he lost the powers he was able to steal as being the "villain" but not really the villain? Or something like that...

I think the idea with the other detectives is that they can form a type of collective Noble Phantasm, which functions to reveal culprits or misdeeds. Since Moriarty's reputation/power comes from calculation and "perfect crimes", removing that aspect of his spirit could weaken him. Weather the detectives' powers would do that to anyone they're used on or him only, is hard to say.

It could also be due in part to Moriarty's own internal conflict about being evil weakening him against you.

just finished.
As other alredy answered, all the nasuverse is more about conceptual then reality.
If there is a lance thet will pierce the enemy heart, the lance will reverse cause and effect to do so, becouse thets his legendary power, his "concept".
Same goes for other thing.
the dog trap worked on lobo becouse it worked on his real life.
The original fate/stay night visual novel was very serious about this, and many of the adaptment of the series kind of forget thet.
Here in shinjuku they tryied to enhance this aspect, with the hidden name and all.

Any way, in particular, thw detectives spirit said "this is our noble phantasm".
A noble phantasm is a conceptual weapon made of the "original weapon " and the "world perception" of the weapon.
So, lets take, for exemple, Gae Bolg.
This lance was used with skill, and was made by scathac, so many power.
One of those power is "it will alweys pierce the heart"
another is "when it hit, thorns will grow inside the enemy body"
so, when cu is summoned as a lancer , the world concept is to create the best "lancer" possible. and as such, the NP maded is based on the idea of the most skilled lancer, so "sure heart hit".
becouse of thet the lance become cursed and invert the cause and effect.
But when Cu is summoned as a Berserker (and even tho the one we have is not truly him, he have enought evidence in is legend to be summoned as such), the idea is "brutality", so the second version is taken. and this is why when cu use is np lot of gae bolg looking spears came out of the enemy body.

In the detective spirit army case, even since the genere of ..i have no idea of how you guys call those in english. here in italy we call them "Giallo" (yellow)... anyway, in all those book, the crucial moment is when the detective use thet phrase to catch the curpit.

The closest English equivalent would probably be Pulp fiction (Pulp Detective or Pulp Mystery) in this case, for similar reasons you use the term Giallo. It's not a 1 to 1, but it's close enough in this instance.

(As an aside, I've taken some courses about Italian cinema, and the Giallo were a lot of fun.)

Good explanation in general though!

I thought since it shinjuku they might summon a child detective or a teen detective that said I swear in the name of my grandfather or a group of teen detective that said there's only one answer..
