who is better : alexander or astolfo

i thinking in level up alexander np5 to farm qp but suddenly astolfo appear few days ago

should i level it over alexander or just burn the trap loli?

burn the trap, alex is better IMO

If you want both worked on farming only, then Astolfo "win" probably because of his higher status + 1st skill make that NP damage good.

However, besides of farming, young Alexander has way better skill-kits. Meanwhile your Alexander is almost likely NP 5, combined with his 3rd skill, the NP damged even win:
Astolfo NP1 with maxed 1st skill: ~19000 damage (to non-advantaged classes like Sabers)
Alexander NP5 with maxed 1st skill but lv1 3rd skill: ~23000 damage
No fou used. Maxed level 80 vs 70

Astolfo has very restricted utility. His only adept area is AOE farming. Also his poor NP gain and only 1 art card means besides of his 3rd skill strengthened 1 year later, you cannot easily release his NP if no Kaleidoscope and no Waver/Ozy/Helena presented. his AQQe's NP = ~18.3 only, one worst level.

Therefore as listed as "Tier 5" SR. Astolfo even cannot finish his job easily due to poor NP gain. The other 4 servants at-least can do their job great without OP supports like Waver, like Stheno's anti-male/ fast NP gain and offensive support to divines like GIl, Lily's NP5 and 1-3 skill for team offense, Edison's unique 3rd-skill in-combo with 2nd skill to burst damage for DPS and good NP effect even Fionn can taunt enemy......

Why not use both.

Alexander @NP5 is great for farming because he can clear all kinds of enemy waves with ease regardless of the class.
That said I still wouldn't burn Astolfo, you'll never know when you need him. If I look at JP tier lists he is rated S next to Herc and Rider Kintoki.

That is because of the coming of Skadi and Astolfo's skill's strengthening. Make his ability of farming to S+ Ranking then overall good as SR.

And JP ranking typically focused on current performance, and too much emphasis on current performance resulted in frequent floating of ranking (a specific example is Okita vs Musashi)

In pair with 4060 Skadi+Waver, Astolfo can even do NP spam due to affluent of Quick card and Rider has good star adsorption, which make him can slash out Caster bosses. Also even though his 3rd skill is RNG, but generally great when paired with Skadi no matter which RNG effect.
Meanwhile recent JP also focused on multi-Boss rather than single. So Astolso worked somehow better.

Off course I also suggest it is no necessary to burn SR and I dismiss so-called trash claim to all Servant. However so far Astolfo worked wrong in NA.
