Why’d they change EMIYA Alters skin?

I thought his skin was burnt brown because he had used magic so much (or something along those lines) sowhy make him look so normal? Besides that, his design look really wierd now. I’ve seen some people complain about his design, but I don’t thunk anybody wanted them to change it to this degree lol

I guess it's because it can offend black people
I don't know how his skin color can be racist but I guess they did it just in case

I looked up what the reason was: black skin, buzz cut, big lips and guns on top of the fact that the artist said something in interview about a prisoner look when he was designing EMIYA alter, which is uh... still don’t understand why they changed the skin colour; they could’ve made his lips normal, and made his hair longer, toned his skin colour just barely and they would’ve been fine.

Maybe 'cause EMIYA Archer is somewhat of ALTER (blacker) regarding EMIYA Shirou, which means that EMIYA Alter must be even more ALTER (blacker) than EMIYA Archer, kek

Well, I get that, I’m saying why’d they make him even whiter than Shirou? Though I already have my answer

I think they changed it from his darker skin tone (JP) to his lighter skin tone (NA), regardless of story line reasons, due to fear of some public backlash as it could perhaps be considered blackface, which is widely considered offensive and disrespectful.
I assume they won't revert back to his darker skin tone due to the same worries and they might consider all these people currently complaining about censorship are just looking for any excuse to complain and moan and would be complaining one way or the other.
My opinion is if they do anything else about it now, it'll just draw further attention to the debacle. I slightly preferred his JP skin but understand what they were trying to avoid.

I don’t care about censorship, I just preferred his JP design. What I don’t get is how blackface is worse than a child being sexualized? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against any of the the Loki’s but (jack in particular) seems to be something that would be more alarming than blackface.

Another thing, the actual skin itself isn’t inherently bad, what’s bad is the big lips and the hair cut; if they removed his thick lips and made his hair longer/ different, there (probably) wouldn’t be much backlash, and they’d please the fans by making his design a bit better. All they did with the skin colour change was a lazy way out of.

They care more about not pissing off the many as opposed to pleasing the one. There are many who feel the same as you but if youve seen some of the comments left on videos by content creators discussing the subject, there are plenty bitching about this being some form of censorship of a fictional world. I fear the backlash could have been worse to JP Emiya Alter being perceived as blackface, people loving to complain as well as appearing correct, smarter and better than others on the internet.
I fully agree but we're from a different culture. Jack is essentially a loli and shows featuring loli's in Japan seem to be popular. If it's popular and legal in Japan, then Jack is an attempt to perhaps bring in a new audience and generate more money? In our culture it's a bit creepy but we may become more conditioned to expect and accept it from Japanese content through more exposure.
Also agree, a retexture of the skin is significantly easier and lazier than adjusting the design but that's what they decided to do.

Because blackface is racist and DW didn't want to release an actively racist character.

Blackface is a huge HUGE problem in the US. The fact that black skin + African features = inner turmoil, broken inside, edgy...pretty racist design.

The artist's comments about 'if Emiya went to jail this is how he'd look' were the cherry on top.

Honestly, if they changed the lips back to Emiya's lips he'd look at a lot better. I think they did a poor job of fixing him since all they did was lighten his skin tone. Every other alter at least resembles their original counterpart. And the lips were half the problem anyway.

Stop you right there,no it isn't. The most you can point at is a recent incident...that was dug up from decades ago. I get they made a time bomb with this one because some people can't help but whinge, but could we keep that crap to a minimum here? Also,OP if you want to know why they changed it specifically for outside Japan, here you go.
