GUDAGUDA Meiji Restoration - Servant Recommendations

Overview

         “THIS IS SHINSENGUMI !!!”

  - Angry Suicidal Demonic Commander

At first sight, the Meiji Restoration event may seem complicated due to Masters have to pick a side every round, but once the event plays out it is rather straightforward. Sadly, in terms of enemy composition, this event does feature many quests with mixed enemy classes, which can frustrate building a rapid farming.

Masters can at least pick and choose which nodes to farm. New Masters in particular can try to avoid problematic enemy classes and focus on the nodes they can clear well. The truly greedy Masters will of course let the material drops decide which side they support. However, it is extremely important that Masters try to evenly climb the points ladder in the long run - the best points node that opens after the 3rd battle phase drops both points after all.

The event Craft Essence - Wolves of Mibu, grants a significant damage boost to the entire party. This effect even occurs when it is equipped on a backline Servant. This boost is a “power mod”, similar to Anti-Trait bonus from skills like Scathach’s God Slayer or Minamoto no Raikou’s Mystic Slayer, so it is highly recommended for newer Masters to take advantage of it to comfortable farm during the event. Multiple CEs stack, but they do so additively (which means each additional equipped Wolves of Mibu is relatively less effective). Masters that want to maximize faction points or drops per AP may not have the CE slots to equip one though.

Similarly, Servants who appear in the story of this event and featured on the event pickup gacha will also enjoy similar damage boost. It is highly recommend to bring these Servants to battle, as they will generally outperform non-event Servants.

In general, it is safer for newer Masters, or faster for those wanting to speed up their farming, to have at least one copy of Wolves of Mibu equipped and to balance out the remaining Craft Essence slots for bonus currency or event points. Do save multiple copies of Wolves of Mibu until after clearing the Challenge Quest against Hijikata, as they trivialize the quest with enough stacking. In fact, it should be possible for even the newest Masters to clear the Challenge Quest by borrowing a powerful solo Servant from a friend!

Note: Starting from this event, we will be changing the format for the farming Servant recommendation section. The Servant roster is ever expanding, and as a result keeping the same format will make the section quite wordy as well as unnecessarily hard to navigate for users. We simplified the node-specific recommendations by including them in the Quick Farming Guide.

What remains in this guide are general recommendations applicable to all nodes.

General Servant Recommendations - Supports

The supports are the backbone of any team and heavily determine how well a team performs. In general, having at least one relevant Support per frontline is a good rule of thumb to clear quests efficiently and safely.

Servant Bonus Description

Zhuge Liang (El Melloi II)

Helena Blavatsky

William Shakespeare

Merlin
Buff_Damage +50% (Helena) NP battery skills are highly valuable in general, but even more so during farming sessions. These selected Servants not only bring NP charge to the table, they can also improve the party’s offensive capacity. As their buffs are long lasting, a common strategy is to use these Servants in conjunction with the Chaldea Combat Uniform Mystic Code and stack as many offensive buffs upon the main damage dealers as possible.

Mash Kyrielight
Being the only Servant in the game that does not increase Party Cost, Mash does hold a unique niche in being a CE holder to either increase event drops, points or (in the case of Wolves of Mibu) the party’s damage. Aside from that, her offensive capacity is quite poor, so in general it is best that she is slotted into the backline unless safety is an issue.

Tamamo-no-Mae

Nero Claudius (Bride)

Hans Christian Andersen

Gilgamesh (Caster)
For newer Masters, it may be difficult to clear higher difficulty quests without Wolves of Mibu without bringing more defense-oriented teams, and Arts team are an excellent choice in that respect, packing both stable damage output and excellent survivability. These Arts supports all bring powerful sustained support to the table, allowing newer Masters to build a core team that will clear most quests consistently, albeit slower.

General Servant Recommendations - Wave Clearers

Wave Clearers are not mandatory, but they significantly speed up the process of farming with their AoE damage. Competent Wave Clearers should be able to wipe out an enemy wave, preferably by charging their NP quickly, and/or significantly weaken bosses while they take out the accompanying mobs with the same blow. With many mixed class waves, Berserkers perform extra well in this event.

Servant Bonus Description

Arash
Arash’s combination of low Party Cost, high NP damage, self NP battery skill and unique gimmick makes him one of the most useful Servants around when it comes to farming. Synergizes well with the Starting NP Gauge from Fortress of the Sun and a Waver. Masters can never go wrong with raising their trusty suicide Arash.

Nitocris
Nitocris is one of the rare Servants that can instantly access her Noble Phantasm on the first turn without support from other teammates or Craft Essences. It's not advised to count on her Instant Death gimmick, even against wave 1 opponents, but her damage should be sufficient with class advantage!

Chacha
Buff_Damage +100% As one of the stars of this event, Chacha gains a significant boost to her damage output during the event. Combined with her NP battery skill - Golden Rule (Calamity), there aren’t many wave clearers that can outdo her. It is highly recommended that Masters ascend her as soon as possible after the 3rd battle, as she will prove quite valuable for farming efficiency. The mixed nodes in this event are also ideal feeding grounds for a Berserker like her.
Oda Nobunaga
Oda Nobunaga

Emiya
EMIYA
Buff_Damage +100%(Nobunaga)Buff_Damage +80% (EMIYA) With a massive damage boost, and frequently having access to enemies that are affected by her anti-damage, Nobu makes for a great farming Servant this event. EMIYA is a potent alternative as well given his big damage boost.
Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla

Helena Blavatsky
Helena Blavatsky

Medusa
Medusa
Buff_Damage +80%(Tesla & Helena)
Buff_Damage+50%(Medusa )
All these three Servants have a powerful event bonus and an NP charging ability. They make excellent picks for any of the Berserker nodes. Tesla especially farms extremely well during this event.

Minamoto-no-Raikou

Frankenstein

Spartacus
Strong AoE Berserkers are a boon with these mixed farming quests, especially with Wolves of Mibu equipped.

General Servant Recommendations - Boss Nukers

In general, AoE Servants can often pull double duty for strong boss killing as well when farming. However, especially for new Masters, sometimes a big burst of damage to a single target is necessary. Ideally, an AoE Servant is a better pick as all best farming quests don't have a single boss enemy in the final wave for the Meiji Restoration event. Yet, there is one great use for ST Servants with an NP charge: quickly disposing of the powerful wave 2 enemies that are in every high level farming quest.

Servant Bonus Description

Sakata Kintoki

Sakata Kintoki (Rider)
Kintoki (Rider)

Chloe von Einzbern
Chloe
With the Starting NP Gauge from Fortress of the Sun, ST Servants with a powerful NP and a 50% charge are amazing at quickly disposing powerful wave 2 enemies. With some extra help or Wolves of Mibu, even without class advantage the welfare Servants can clear, say, a wave 2 dragon.

Hijikata Toshizo

Mysterious Heroine X (Alter)
Buff_Damage +100% (Hijikata)
Buff_Damage +80% (MHXA)
Both of these Berserkers gain a humongous damage boost during the event, and they will heavily outdamage many single target damage Servants.
Okita Souji
Okita Souji
Cu Chulainn
Cu Chulainn
Buff_Damage +100% (Okita)
Buff_Damage +50% (Cu)
Okita's massive damage boost makes her extremely powerful, regardless of the enemy's class (excepting Archers). Cu Chulainn is naturally a great failsafe during the event, but also profits from many important Archer enemies in the first 2 battles.
