Buster team in the future

Nah, Merlin is still super strong and most buster servants still serve a lot of good. However, certain one-trick-ponies start to fall out of favor because they have a hard time doing any good while their skills are on cooldown.

As good as double Merlin is, it only charges 40% NP in a single turn whereas double Skadi charges 100% NP while getting equal quick card value to a single servant. As a result, double Skadi turns any quick servant into a god, becoming great for farming or challenge quests. This is not true of Merlin and his buster memes, but because of his NP, I believe he is still the king of sustain.

Nah it doesnt means Buster team (particularly with Merlin) could be abandoned. I may say Skadi is OP for Quick servants but Merlin and his Buster team is still good:

(1) Merlin has team-wide NP charge, but Skadi dont.
(2) Skadi's NP can provide team-wide evade, but because of (1) and more strict usage of Quick cards rather than Art chain, Skadi's NP wont be frequently released as Merlin. In other word, Skadi's NP has lower tactical function than Merlin.
(3) Therefore, Skaid's role to to provide a top-level offensive support to Quick DPS in order to pour huge damage in few turns, but Merlin can provide durability due to his 2nd skill and NP, besides of his famous support for critical Buster damage.
(4) It also depend on what kind of DPS is in the team. Like Gil is always one best DPS. Some servants with Buster orientation also possessed good kits, such as Bryn, Ozy/Quetzalcoatl/Ivan, Sigurd, Raikou/Karna, etc.
On the other hand, Skadi's coming indeed is a saver for all Quick DPS, but some of them dont have good Quick card performance which received limited help. For instance, OG Lancer Shishou's Quick card is poor and her NP is ST with low hit account, so many players normally choose the new Bradamante/Valkyrie as Quick lancer to pair with Skadi. But it wont happened for Merlin, since all Buster DPS could be fairly fit to Merlin.

The general thought for DW recently is try to make players with more options to build various team and make different gameplay. Skadi's Meta is indeed quite good, but as I considered, DW provide another route for players not always use Merlin and his Buster team, but doesn't means it is because of Merlin and his Buster team became weaker. Since if players always use Merlin-Buster, finally they will feel boring. That is also a reason I really love Skadi and expect her come (I wont whale anyone until her coming), but I wont exaggerate her.

They game is designed so that you can beat it without following meta if you really want (though, certain moments are easier exploiting meta). There is no pvp and the only competition is who can collect the most waifus XD. At the end of the day, play with who you want. If the gatcha dealt you buster servants, use buster teams. If quick use quick, etc loool
