Well, Dantes is far less fragile, has anti-ruler niche.
It depends if you want to trivialize farming/wave clearing, or a universal nuke for non-foreigner bosses.

Dantes or MHX alter
I have a few tickets I would like to spend trying to get one of the two, given the future release of Skadi. I already have Berserlot and Shishou as powerful quick servants, but I've heard that Dantes is still better than Berserlot, as MHX alter is better than Shishou. So, who's more useful between the two in general, assuming there will be two Skadis in my team?

I'd go for Dantes, though you'd probably use MHXA more often simply because of her class advantage. Dantes is strong only against Rulers which are pretty rare in this game.

MHXA is good against Raid quest and whatnot, Dantes is good at everything.
Do you know how people say that Gilgamesh dealing ST damage against servants is broken? Well Dantes deals a similar amount of damage against any enemy (human, servant, animal, monster, Apache helicopter). Not satisfied with that, Dantes can do it three consecutive times because he's extremely compatible with Skadi's system while applying def debuff, cheap curse damage and getting 50 starts each turn. Dantes also has invul pierce, np drain and debuff cleanse.
Another thing to notice is that any new quick AOE damage dealer comes incapable of doing three consecutive shots consistently (like Bradamante or spooky pony). The excellent SkadiSystem options are Dantes, Parvati, Valkyrie and Atalante...the good ones are Zerkerlot&Aquilles (these ones need extra help to be consistent). Basically the same as Buster, the damage dealers released before Merlin have bigger dicks than the ones who came after Merlin.

I don't know his name, it's a complicated name.
He's a giant centaur with 6~8 arms holding a sword each. He looks like a final boss of some final fantasy bs and he's 5* berserker class.

The only problem I see with Skadi is that she doesn't provide survivability aside from the 1 hit evasion on his NP (which is less useful than his skills), so yeah, maybe Dantes is a better option after all, considering his ridiculously high attack, amazing avenger class (weak only to BB, who's not gonna show up a lot) and better survivability than MHX alter. After all, thinkin' about it, I will primarly use Skadi for farming, and keep Memelin to spam Garden of Avalon in challenge quests, so maybe it's a better idea to invest in an AoE servant as Dantes. If you want to get Dantes for farming purposes, he will be an awesome addition to have! For higher hp farming and CQ, I would recommend you to get him at least NP2 because of the amount of damage is able to provide(is just ridiculous) and more consistency because he will be able to gain more np because of overkill bonus. :D (Post Skadi)
