Emiya is broken?

Just to begin with, this isn't a question about how good Emiya (Archer) is in-game; it's a question about 'if someone has Emiya in the story of the game, wouldn't he be one of the best Heroic Spirits?'

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but Emiya has a copy of every weapon he has ever seen inside Unlimited Blade Works, right?

And that includes the story of the weapon, the person who used it and so on.

Does that mean that he could, in theory, create a cathalyst for almost any Heroic Spirit that we find during Singularities?

Some weapons like Billy the Kid's gun are probably outside of his capabilities but things like Cu (and Scathach)'s spear, Nero's sword, Jack's daggers and a few others should be possible, right?

What do you think?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there is limitation to his magecraft. Since his origin are "sword", so he can only reproduce blade like items, so I don't think he can reproduce Gae Bolg. Besides all the weapons that he replicates are degraded by 1 level and he is limited by the amount of mana from his master. Unless his master can provide him unlimited amount of mana, that's a different story

It is my understanding that, when it comes to his origin, "sword" encompases any bladed item such as spears, daggers, broadswords, katanas, etc; as a reference, in the game Fate/Extella when he uses UBW Emiya throws Gae Bolg at his enemies.

But even if I am wrong and "sword" refers only to blade like weapons, would he be able to create a catalyst for any Servant that he has seen use one then?

I never played Fate/Extella, so I wasn't aware he replicated Gae Bolg before, so that's new to me.

But yes, he basically can replicate any 'A' grade weap but then degraded by 1 level which becomes a B rank weap. Anything above say Ex rank cannot be done eg. Gil's Ea

He could also create Rho Aias which is a shield. I thought he had the ability to create anything he saw before (including shields, Spears, etc) that he can understand

in the novel it is stated thet he can create defensive item but is way more taxing on him. like many time more mana cost then crate a similar power weapon.

If paired with a smart, morally bankrupt master able to supply him with the tons of mana needed for UBW, yes, he'd be a great servant in a grailwar, even at less then 100% in the VN he managed to kill Hercules multiple times, and sneak attacks with broken phantasms would be very effective.

That said, there are plenty of servants who could still give him trouble if he fought them without the element of surprise and could very well kill him even with UBW.

I am aware of that but my question was more of 'could he make a catalyst for almost every servant by copying their weapons?'

I'd say not as they'd just be copies, not the original and would have no real connection to the hero and more importantly in a regular grail war only so many servants can be summoned so even if his copies, which pale in comparison to the originals, could trick the grail and act as a catalyst he would have to be paired with an absurdly powerful mage who could provide mana for 2 servants, or one who would feed regular people to the new servant to keep them supplied and it would require summoning the new servant before all the positions in the grail war had been taken.

I was talking specifically on the context of Fate Grand Order not any regular Grail War, sorry if I didn't make that clear, but it's a copy that has all the accumulated experience of the wielder, can you say that there is no connection between, for example, a copy of Jack's daggers (again, with everything Jack did) and Jack the Ripper?

I could be wrong though, it's just something that popped in my mind and wanted to know what other people think.

His copies are good, good enough to trick a lot of mages but there are some that could tell that his aren't the real deal, and its one thing to trick a human mage, quite another to trick the throne of heroes.

So to answer your question, No, I don't think EMIYA projecting a weapon of another hero would be good enough to act as a catalyst to summon that hero as the weapons he projects are inferior to the originals in terms of power and as they are projections, they have no real bond to the hero is question. the copy of jacks daggers for example would both be weaker in power and also things that the hero in the throne had never touched. I don't think them looking and acting like them would be enough.

He is supposed to be able to recreate any weapon he has seen, but has a special affinity for creating swords. In the visual novel, however, it is said that each copy he makes is a rank below the original. Not to mention that the higher rank of a weapon he recreates, the more mana he uses.

At some point in UBW, he claims that he can recreate Excalibur but using it would be tantamount to a suicide attack, so there are limitations on what he can accomplish. And of course, it all depends on how much magical energy his master can supply him with.

Another thing is that the abilities of some weapons are dependent on the person wielding them. For example, Gae Bolg's ability always pierce the heart is something that only Cú Chulainn gives the spear. Emiya would not replicate this ability.

well i have to correct you on 2 point here.
1. He did say thet he could have replicate excalibur, and thet he would have died. But not for the replication in a normal situetion.
He just used his magical power in a fight ageinst cu, and he was without a master. Plus he say he would have used it and then died. So the actuall amount of magical power he needed for the creation and the use of excalibur in thet situation (being half death and with no master) would have be to much.
In normal situation he can recreate Excalibur and use it, he dont do it becouse excalibur is a suboptimal weapon.
He can simply use calad bolgII for similar result and less mana 90% of the time.
2. as for using the weapon skill, e can use it, is not limited by some means. He can use Gae Bolg, after all he used Calad Bolg just fine.He used Rule Braker (medea Np), Nine Life (Hercules TRUE np, and he have never see it, just by replicating the memory of his weapon), he replicated and unlashed Excalibur and Avalon.

Rules are slightly different depending the Grail War, I'm not sure how UBW works in fgo.

It's been a while since I read the vn but iirc divine constructs are things beyond human understanding, like excalibur which is fairy made, and that's why they are so hard to project.

In the moon cell UBW is kind of buffed and EMIYA is capable of replicating divine constructs with out blowing himself up.

As for EMIYA himself he is average at best, it's said that he became an archer that fights from afar due to his subpar combat abilities/prowess. An easy comparison is Cu Chulainn, on their first encounter he was restrained by command seals and could fight only at 50% as to "test" other masters/servants. EMIYA gets constantly disarmed by this Cu. On the UBW route they fight again with Cu at 100% and EMIYA has no chance.

Edit* as stated above he would probably perform better if used as an actual Archer with tactics and such involved.

Emiya , the non servant one, the actual protagonist, was actually able to replicate Excalibur and Avalon in the Fate rute.
But he is unable to undestend EA, so we can assume some "above all divine construct " are impossible to undestend

I don't think he can replicate Avalon since it is an Ex rank NP. Besides, in the OG fate route, kiritsugu had planted Avalon within Shirou's body, which functioned as the catalyst to summon saber. His wounds from the fate route are able to heal instantly are because saber is with him, where whenever saber is not with him, Avalon won't heal shirou's wounds, because it needs saber's mana. I would guess the avalon he used in the fate route would be the one within his body

No. In the route he returned the true avalon to saber, and he projected one to protect him self during the final battle.
And saber used the true one to protect herself.

He replicated it. we can say thet he was able to do so becouse his body know it for 10 year.
But he did it

He can definitely do most bladed/blunt melee weapons. Certain weapons (Like Ea) are beyond him based on what they're made of and the type of magic they invoke but for the most part, if he can understand it, he can replicate it.
Whether they can be used as catalysts is a good question that to my knowledge, hasn't been answered.
When it comes to guns though... well Emiya Alter could be taken as proof that it's doable. I don't think Emiya Archer is ever shown using firearms though.

The thing about Fate /Stay Night is thet all servant have an actual chance of winning the war.... excep sasaki kojiro, he suck compared to anyone else.
Even ageinst hercules, who is the single most broken being, and is in is weakest form (i want to se an archer herc, like 6 star, Grand Archer)
All of those servant ability are complitly broken becouse they are all conceptual and not about number like a marvel comic.
Becouse of thet, we can say thet emiya is quite strong among them
becouse of the variety of attack he can perform. He can simply analyse the enemy weakness and use something to counter it.
This is way Gilgamesh is so strong by the way. He can simply use the weapon thet was used to kill thet specific hero in life and win (like moldred sword ageins Arturia, the scyter thet killed medusa, or the spear thet killed Cu).
Emiya can do the same becouse he have fought ageinst gilgamesh.
The only problem is the he is a weaker eroic spirit compared to him, way less mana, and a replica is a bit weaker then the original weapon.
So he can be considered the "strongest", but also the "weakest" becouse he is actually pretty weak in actual combact compared to the other knight class. So if he meet someone who have no record in history of weakness and who is a superior figheter he will lose (for exemple, shishou will kill him easly)
As for cathalyst there is no record as far as i know of a false one.
Except the Grail... well this is a different discussion.
So we have think about 2 answer.
Yes and No.
Yes he can recreate, and can be used to summon another servant, and he is probabily able by now to provide some mana right? after all he was a mage, and no rule prevent a summoned servant mage to summon another servant. And well this create another set of rule, becouse this evocation need many arrangment like something thet can made the servant attaced to the time in witch he is summoned, something to give him mana ecc ecc.
No, he can replicate but the servant dont anwser the call becouse is false.
We have no way to say if is yes or know (to my knowledge), but personally i thing the second is the most probabile outcome....
Still the grail is false and still so many servant answered the call...
Arturia would have never came if she have knew
