As the question said. I need a lot of the lanterns so I was considering farming the Advanced Node instead so I can farm it alongside the dumplings. Is it worth it though or should i just go for the dumplings in the Expert and Goddess nodes?
The published drop rate is 9.5% so you'll only get one every 10 runs or so. But for the regular dumplings, advanced can actually drop slightly more per AP than expert (difference grows with the bonus), but slightly less of the rares.
Once you've cleared the rare shop of whatever you want, you'll put yourself at a rather large disadvantage if you don't farm the goddess difficulty for the regulars.
I think you may have made a typo. You said “advanced drops slightly more than advanced” and I think one of those is supposed to be expert or goddess.
Since I need like 80 of the lanterns I suppose a slightly slower farm rate is fine for me, given I still have over 60 apples despite spending a ton during the Christmas roulette and Pillar farming.

I wasn't keeping close track, but I think those 3 roulette-type events dropped a lot more apples than most, because most other
events only drop apples on quests and there aren't any in the store, while the Halloween and Xmas events had them in the roulette as well.
For one expected drop per 300 AP, you'll only get one per 2-3 apples plus your natural AP (which I'd estimate around 7 drops).
Well, I'm not really planning on spending too many apples for it. Once I get enough rare dumplings I'll switch to Goddess for the regular ones. I just need the lanterns more than the Hearts (which I have like 60 of from Barbatos even after ascension and skills XD) so I'll stick with Advanced over Expert.
