Rabbit's Reviews #234: Leonardo da Vinci (5* Rider)

Lostbelt da Vinci debuts as the fourth anniversary SSR, and she’s one of the best AoE Arts servants we’ve seen in a long while, on top of being the first SSR Arts Rider. Much like Saber Shiki and Caster da Vinci, Rider da Vinci sacrifices raw burst damage in favor of consistency and bulk. She has exceptionally good NP refund potential and a strong mix of utility that makes her an excellent point servant for stable Arts teams.

Da Vinci’s stat spread is very slightly more offense-leaning than Maid Alter’s, which means she has low attack and high health. It’s not a terrible place for a stability-oriented servant to be, but she wouldn’t have minded a higher attack stat. Da Vinci’s kit is not designed for star gen, but her Arts card NP gain is very strong and with her three in-kit NP charge sources she can easily loop her NP. For passives, she has Riding and Territory Creation to buff her Quick and Arts cards, as well as a unique passive in Overhaul that gives her decent debuff resistance and means she actually will drop a few stars off a brave chain despite her otherwise-unimpressive star gen setup.

Da Vinci’s mats aren’t all that offensive, though she asks for a number of common silver mats that can easily serve as roadblocks, as well as the gold mats from both LB3 and LB4, which means she’ll likely take some mat farming to max.

Da Vinci’s skillset is really strong, and ideally she wants all three skills maxed. Recommended skill order is 1>3>2.

Da Vinci fits best into typical stability-focused Arts teams, which means Waver/Tamamo or (even better) Merlin/Tamamo. A Merlin/Da Vinci/Tamamo team will be raining NPs from all three servants and will have enough healing to recover from pretty much anything that isn’t a one-shot-kill. Budget support options like Mash and Hans should work quite well as well if the high-rarity Casters aren’t available. Loop setups (with Paracelsus, Tamamo, Asclepius, Bride, etc) can also let da Vinci reliably NP several times in a row provided she doesn’t get unlucky with card draws, although at NP1 her damage might be a bit too low for this to be preferable to more stable team comps.

If you have Waver and can push da Vinci to an immediate NP, The Black Grail is a really excellent pick, as it covers for her low-ish base NP damage and lets her make maximum use of her great NP gain. Otherwise, Painting Summer is a great choice, as it gets da Vinci doing faster and compounds her already-great NP gain.

Da Vinci is a super strong servant, and if you expect to use her often she’s a strong grail candidate. Extra attack helps to push her NP damage higher, and da Vinci with actually strong NP damage quickly becomes pretty monstrous.

Da Vinci is a really strong servant if you like more traditional Arts teams, and she has loop potential as well. She’s a super elegant servant overall, and she’s easily one of the best AoE Arts servants in the game. If you have her role covered (or if you don’t run Arts) you don’t need her, but otherwise she’s a great servant to pull for.
