Anne Bonny/Mary Read is an interesting duo. Their strength lies in their immense one turn burst, either through their extraordinary Noble Phantasm or crit damage steroid. When the setup is right they can obliterate any boss with their firepower. However, outside of that they have nothing else to elevate themselves to a higher tier. Their star generation and NP generation are both subpar, and they are heavily reliant on crits to do damage due to lack of Buster cards. Lack of defensive steroids in combination with a high risk / high reward NP also makes them harder to use for many teams. Nonetheless, if players are looking for a solid 1 turn boss killer, then their sheer damage output still make Anne / Mary a good choice despite many of their downsides.


  • Extremely high Noble Phantasm damage output that gets more powerful as their health goes down
  • Strong potential for 1 turn burst with crit damage thanks to innate high crit star absorption and 2 steroid skills for 1 turn


  • Lack of defensive tools resulting in low survivability
  • Very poor star generation outside of their NP due to low hit counts on cards.
  • Poor NP generation despite having 2 Art and 2 Quick cards, mainly relies on teammates/craft essences to gain NP
  • Normal attacks have low damage outside of crits due to poor card layout (BAAQQ)

Craft Essence Recommendation

  • Prisma Cosmos / Kaleidoscope / The Imaginary Element: Helps Anne/Mary to access their NP a lot faster, as their NP gain is quite terrible without support from CE/Teammates
  • The Black Grail: If the team already has a means for Anne/Marie to gain NP, Black Grail is an amazingly synergistic CE for them, as it both lowers their HP threshold while also improving their NP damage. It's high risk but has an extremely high reward
  • Heaven's Feel: A safer alternative to Black Grail, not as good but also easier to plan around
  • Imaginary Around / Gandr: Improves their Quick cards and by extension their NP damage. Since they have 2 Quick cards, it is a good way to boost their overall damage output
  • Gem Magecraft: Antumbra / Moonlight Fest: Improves their crit damage output. Great if the team has a way to reliably generate crit stars for them to use

Level Up Skill Recommendation

Combination should always be maxed first as it is the enabler of Anne/Marie's main damage output which is through NP/crit damage. At maxed level, a 5 turn cooldown make them a much more consistent damage dealer especially if the team can help them gain NP / generate stars.

Marksmanship is a massive one turn crit damage buff and should be used in conjunction with Combination, thus should be maxed second. During a turn where there are a large number of crit stars, Marksmanship can be used alone as well to guarantee high damage.

Voyage is their weakest skill and should be maxed last, as their hit counts are too low to make great use of this skill.

Suggested Servant Synergies

  • Zhuge Liang improves their biggest weakness which is NP gain, as well as further emphathize their strength in high crit damage burst
  • Atalante can generate a large amount of crit stars with her NP and also raise Quick card performance for 1 turn for the whole party, thus she is a great servant to setup for Anne/Marie 
  • Gaius Julius Caesar:  As a fellow Quick oriented servant, Caesar can increase the multiplier on Anne and Mary’s NP through Charisma and Tactics.  Additionally, Caesar can also use Incite to stack crit buffs with Anne and Mary’s Combination skill for even more crit damage; the defense down demerit is neutralized as taking more damage allows Anne and Mary to do more damage with their NP.
