Attack / HP Growth
Gaius Julius Caesar, one of the greatest heroes of Rome, joins Chaldea reluctantly as a Saber, instead of a Rider. While only a 3-Star Servant, Caesar is one of the rare support Sabers who also sports a single target Noble Phantasm. His first two skills increase allies’ attack and NP damage, allowing for powerful burst turns where everyone fires their NP. Caesar's third skill increases an ally's critical damage, which meshes well the the critical stars from his NP for potential crit damage the next turn.
While leaning towards a support Servant, Caesar has not-so-good generation stats for both NP and stars, the latter only being generously given upon using his NP. However, once his NP is ready, not only does it generate stars, but it also gives him a partial NP refund due to its hitcount. Thus, he performs best in a team with another support Servant who can charge his NP. Another downside to Caesar is that he has low HP and can easily be taken out. Nevertheless, owing to the fact that Caesar is and will remain as the most accessible single target Saber, he is definitely worth raising.
Good Offensive Support Skills
Caesar boasts great synergy with his skills, each aiding in damage dealing. His first skill, Tactics, increases party NP damage, while his second skill, Charisma, increases party attack. When coupled together, they allow for great burst damage.
Good Critical Damage Synergy
Caesar's Noble Phantasm is a ST Quick NP which generates a good amount of stars. Additionally, his third skill, Incite, increases an ally's critical damage. Thus, Caesar can use his NP, and on the next turn, use his third skill on the ally who has the most chance to crit to increase their damage.
Accessible Saber with Single Target Noble Phantasm
Caesar is the most accessible non-gold Saber with a ST NP.
Low Base Generation
Both Caesar's NP and star generation leaves much more to be desired, at least until Caesar can fire off that first NP and start generating stars. As such, Caesar performs better either in a team with a dedicated NP support, or with CEs to get his NP up as fast as possible.
Caesar sadly has the lowest amount of HP amongst all Sabers. While partly due to the fact that he is only a 3-Star Servant, he nevertheless is fragile and can die easily. Additionally, while equipping Caesar with craft essences to augment his defense is possible, it is not optimal, and he is better off with CEs which increase his other capabilities instead.
Craft Essence Recommendation
- Kaleidoscope / Imaginary Element / Prisma Cosmos: Given how Caesar wants to generate stars, and his main method for generation is his NP, it makes sense to allow him to fire his NP as fast as possible.
- Be Elegant / Kitchen☆Patissiere: These CEs enable Caesar to generate more stars in general, with Kitchen☆Patissiere also increasing his NP generation as well.
- Imaginary Around / Gandr: By increasing Caesar's Quick performance, he can also generate more stars as well as deal more damage using his Noble Phantasm.
- A Fragment of 2030: If Caesar is to be used as a more traditional crit support Servant, equipping a CE which already generates stars can add more synergy to the party gameplan. Though considering his relatively low HP, it’s not the most optimal of choices.
Level Up Skill Recommendation
- Owing to Caesar's more supportive nature as a Servant, leveling up Charisma first is optimal as it increases team damage for three turns, as opposed to just one with Tactics.
- Tactics or Incite can either be leveled up next with a strong suggestion on Tactics, as it is more universally useful; however if Caesar is to be placed in a team which specializes in crits more, then Incite can be leveled up second instead. Not to mention, upon Rank Up, Incite gives a massive 100% star generation bonus as well.
Suggested Servant Synergies
Atalante: Atalante has one of the best Quick support skills in the game until Scathach’s release (and even then Scathach’s Quick boost is single target). As both are Quick Servants, Atalante can provide a quick up for her and Caesar’s NP, while Caesar can further increase their damage through Tactics and Charisma. Furthermore, the stars that Atalante provides go well with the target of Caesar’s Incite skill, enabling 40% stronger critical hits. They work best against Saber enemies due to class advantage, but Caesar should be able to handily get rid of lancer enemies.
Hassan of the Cursed Arm: Unsurprisingly, Hassan has great explicit synergy with Caesar. Aside from easy Quick chains from having five Quick cards between the two of them (plus Quick NPs), there will be plenty of stars and thus crits resulting from Hassan’s Quick cards, Dagger skill, and Caesar’s NP. Hassan can also take advantage of Caesar’s Incite to deal up to 90% increased critical damage, with the defense down demerit being a non-factor due to Protection from Wind. Overall they complement each other well in skills and decks.
Ushiwakamaru: As usual, Ushiwakamaru finds herself working well with the saber class. Given that both have two quick cards apiece in addition to their NP, Caesar grants Ushiwakamaru a way to capitalize on her higher rider star weight with Incite, while the combination of Ushiwakamaru’s Charisma and Caesar’s Tactics results in a multiplicatively stronger NP turn.
