Serenity is an Arts Assassin with very peculiar specialties that tend to vary in usefulness. Her damage output and NP spam potential is lackluster when matched against her competitors such as Ryougi Shiki or Hassan of a Hundred Personas, and her star generation, while good, is still inferior to other options in the Assassin roster. Serenity shines in her ability to consistently apply crippling debuffs such as NP drain, skill seal and NP seal to her opponents, while also threatening them with a relatively high-chance of instant death (against those vulnerable to it). Until she gets two strengthenings which bolsters her niche by enhancing Poison damage, the current niches she does have tend to be less effective compared to conventional methods of tackling enemies.


Above-average star generation for an Assassin.

With her high-ranking Presence Concealment, reasonably good hitcounts and Throw (Dagger), Serenity can provide a relatively good sum of stars to her team in spite of her focus on Arts cards. While she may not be able to provide as many stars in a pinch as Fuuma Kotarou can, being able to generate stars while being Arts-centric is a rare talent, and gives her a more unique role for team compositions.

Consistent and Useful debuff effects.

Thanks to Dance of Silence, Serenity packs a powerful debuff success rate up buff, and she puts it to use well. With the critical chance down debuff from Morph (Infiltration) as well as the poison, skill seal and NP seal from her Noble Phantasm, Serenity can force an opponent to stick to regular cards with a notably reduced chance of landing a critical. This greatly reduces the random element in an opponent’s actions. Combined with her NP drain effect from Morph (Infiltration), she can lock down NP’s for a good while with ample team support.


Sub-par NP gain.

While Serenity’s NP gain isn’t bad by any means, it is well below average for an Assassin, with average NP gain in pretty much every card at her disposal and no skills to aid her NP gain. For a kit which largely relies on the punch of its NP, Serenity can have issues pulling it out frequently.

Low damage output

Serenity has the second-lowest attack stat for Assassins of her rarity. Combined with the Assassin class’s attack modifier and no offensive steroids in her kit, her damage output is pitiful, even at NP5. While her later NP interlude helps amend this a little, Serenity is still hitting well below the output that Hassan of a Hundred Personas and some others can attain, while lacking much else to show for it.

Weak niches

The main strengths of Serenity’s kit would be her Instant-death NP and Poison damage. However, both are weak niches: the former has little chance of succeeding on enemy servants or boss enemies, while the latter simply pales in comparison to the damage of regular cards in most cases. Neither end up aiding her performance in the long run.

Craft Essence Recommendation

Formal Craft / Projection / Another End - Serenity focuses largely on utilizing her Arts cards and NP to plaster the enemy with debuffs as much as possible. WIth Arts-boosting CEs she can both aid her low damage output and get her NP out faster. Another End is a small alternative that also capitalizes on Serenity’s high-ranking Independent Action to make her a reasonably good critical damage dealer on the side.

Fragments of 2030 - Serenity can be used in something of a supportive role with her debuffs and stall-related kit, and in such a scenario you may as well plaster the best support CE on her. With both Throw (Dagger) and 2030 she can provide 20 stars to the team on a given turn, more than enough to get a good critical or two off.

Level Up Skill Recommendation

Dance of Silence is a key part to the debuffing components of Serenity’s kit, so having it reach full power and minimum cooldown is key to keeping her debuffs up consistently. However, Throw (Dagger)’s on-demand stars can be handy for almost any team composition, so it may be worth levelling it sooner if you want to take a more aggressive angle. Morph (Infiltration) doesn’t gain much benefit from levelling up, and also is plastered with a long cooldown, meaning levelling it may not allow for many more uses in a battle despite the cooldown reduction.
