Attack / HP Growth
Irisviel is a support-type Servant specializing in keeping her teammates alive, with two of her skills and her NP directly contributing to this function. She is unique in that her NP provides a team-wide Guts, which means that it bypasses threats such as defense, invulnerability, and evasion ignores, as well as instant kills - the last of which can be particularly relevant for certain quests - though it is still vulnerable towards buff removal properties.
There are several major weaknesses Irisviel possesses however, the most notable of which is her subpar NP gain. Even when her NP gain buff is active, her NP gain is only average, which means that she'll have a hard time trying to use her NP constantly. Additionally, she provides little utility outside of survival aid, limiting her overall usability.
A niche unique to only Irisviel. Even outside of buff removal abilities, common defensive measures such as Evasion or Invulnerability buffs find their counters in the form of enemy Evasion/Invulnerability ignore buffs. Guts, however, only has buff removal as a weakness. Guts also works against things such as poison, burn, or even instant kills which makes it rather valuable against enemies with such gimmicks.
High Healing Capability
Having two ways of healing allies as well as a skill which further boosts healing effectiveness, Irisviel is able to top up the whole team’s HP effectively - which is important, as sometimes she would need this capability to keep her allies alive after a Guts proc.
Irisviel has higher HP than most other Servants of her rarity. Combined with her various healing methods, her NP’s Guts, and her second skill’s Invulnerability, she is one of the more durable Servants in the game.
Lack of Utility
Aside from healing and Guts - which are both oriented towards sustaining the team - Irisviel notably lacks any other sort of contribution, be it buffs or other utility tools. This puts a limit to her strategic versatility, which often hurts her competition against other healers.
Low NP Gain
Without any means to instantly charge Irisviel’s NP gauge, her low base NP gain becomes a glaring weakness. Although her second skill’s NP gain buff mitigates this somewhat, it is only able to bring her NP gain to an average level. Additionally, as her Invulnerability buff is also built into said skill, its usage for buffing NP gain is often let go in favor of a more defensive use.
Due to Irisviel’s low NP gain and the long cooldown on her first skill, she may sometimes be unable to provide any sort of healing for several turns which can be a problem for extended fights.
Craft Essence Recommendation
Prisma Cosmos : Easily Irisviel’s best CE choice, Prisma Cosmos charges a flat amount of 8% NP gauge per turn. The reason for this is that unlike CEs which grant Arts Performance or NP Gain buffs, Prisma Cosmos doesn’t take into account her subpar base NP Gain.
Dress of Heaven / Gentle Affection : Significantly increasing Irisviel’s healing potential, these CEs allow her to rotate her skills more instead of having to use all of them in a single turn.
Grand New Year / Halloween Arrangement / GUDAGUDA Poster Girl : Thanks to her aforementioned survivability, she is an ideal candidate for Taunt CEs. Aside from diverting damage, they also help her in gaining NP defensively, which can be especially effective with the aid of her second skill.
Kaleidoscope / The Imaginary Element : As it takes some time to charge up Irisviel’s NP gauge, these CEs are recommended for stages where her party-wide Guts would be needed in the first few turns.
Level Up Skill Recommendation
- Sacrificial Resolve A allows Irisviel to boost her healing power significantly, enabling powerful burst heals when combined with other parts of her kit. However, its long cooldown can make it rather unreliable at times. For this reason, it is recommended to level this skill up first in order to reduce its cooldown.
Child of Nature A is Irisviel’s only NP gain aid skill, and contributes a lot to her NP charging process. As with Sacrificial Resolve, this skill is leveled in order to increase its availability via the cooldown reductions obtained at skill levels 6 and 10.
Magical Healing A provides a way for Irisviel to immediately heal a single person for significant amounts of HP, especially when combined with her NP and her first skill’s healing boost. However, it is rather limited in impact without them; this, combined with the fact that it comes with the lowest cooldown of all her skills, means that its leveling priority is rather low.
