The King of Conquerors is a Rider with only one thing on his mind - damage. Packing a high base attack, Riding rank, Divinity and an entirely offense-based skill set, Iskandar sets out to do as much damage as humanly possible to the entire enemy team. His focus in damage output pays off, dealing noticeably more damage than Drake with all their respective buffs active, even without counting his future NP interlude to back up his damage multiplier. In fact, he inflicts more damage than Medb versus single targets assuming they’re not male, speaking for his incredible NP damage output.
However, Iskandar does not come without his drawbacks. While he possesses solid team support as a side-effect of his powerful damage buffs, he has practically no utility or durability skills in return, making him very dependent on his teammates to cover for his weaknesses, such as charging his NP gauge or making him more durable. Immense AOE NP damage
Even without his NP interlude, Iskandar is one of the most powerful AOE damage dealers in the game, only being beaten out by the likes of Altria and Altria Alter, both of whom possess higher multipliers to their NP’s damage than him. Once Iskandar gains access to his NP interlude in the future, very few servants can claim to match him in raw AOE damage.
Strong offensive team support
With both Charisma and Tactics of a good rank, Iskandar can provide both himself and his team a significant damage boost for their regular cards and NP’s on demand. While Iskandar will usually want to consider holding back on using said skills for himself, if paired with another powerful offensive servant he can offer a very effective damage increase to NP’s which rivals Drake’s Voyager of the Storm.
Reasonably good Star Generation
While Iskandar packs neither a large sum of Quick cards or amazing hitcounts (outside of his 6-hit Extra card), his Noble Phantasm does have 8 hits to it, resulting in 24 hits if he hits a wave of three enemies. Paired with Lightning Conqueror’s noticeable Star generation buff, Iskandar can produce upwards of 17 stars on his NP, rivalling the star generation from his key competitor, Drake. However, as this relies on Lightning Conqueror’s skill cooldown, he cannot produce critical stars as frequently as Drake.
Lack of defensive skills
Iskandar, while packing a moderate HP pool, is far from durable, with absolutely no defensive support for himself or his allies in his kit. As a result, he will be dependent on support from Mystic Codes or fellow servants in order to outlast enemy attacks, or survive powerful Noble Phantasms.
Lack of any NP gauge charging tools
While Iskandar does have immense NP damage output on paper, he actually tends to lose out in damage output when compared to competing Riders like Drake when considering AOE damage output for one reason - he lacks any form of NP gauge charger. While Drake can run Halloween Princess or even a raw Buster boost CE with support from a Waver and still be capable of NP’ing on turn 1, Iskandar is pretty much forced to use a raw NP gauge CE like Kaleidoscope in order to gain the same benefits, meaning he loses out on the offensive benefits of a CE. As a result, in most situations where Iskandar and Drake aim to NP at the same time, Drake’s ability to run Halloween Princess makes her damage eclipse Iskandar’s.
Craft Essence Recommendation
Kaleidoscope / Imaginary Magic - Iskandar wants to be capable of pulling off his powerful NP as soon as possible, especially considering his lack of tools to aid his NP gain. As a result, using a starting NP gauge CE is the natural answer. Even without any offensive boosts from CE’s Iskandar hits particularly hard, making this the ideal choice for him.
Halloween Princess / His Rightful Place - Something of a middle ground to be used if Iskandar has sufficient NP gauge charging support, Iskandar can find a benefit from most 50% NP gauge event CE’s, especially Halloween Princess.
Level Up Skill Recommendation
Lightning Conqueror forms the bulk of Iskandar’s NP damage, which in turn is his main selling point, so it makes sense to level it first and foremost to bank on his strongest point, as well as reduce its cooldown. If you prefer to focus on Iskandar’s powerful team supporting buffs, levelling Charisma first is also a viable option, as it still improves Iskandar’s own damage output by a margin. It is not recommended to level Tactics anything but last, as its versatility and impact as a damage buff is dwarfed by Charisma and Lightning Conqueror.
