The corrupted Holy Maiden, Jeanne d'Arc Alter, arrives as a manifestation of Gilles de Rais' vengeful hatred towards the people of France for the burning of Jeanne at the stake. In contrast to her saintly counterpart, Jeanne Alter is heavily focused on damage.
Jeanne Alter is arguably the best Buster-type single target damage Servant to date. Boasting high damage output, fast NP gain, and usage flexibility due to her Avenger class typing, she is a powerful asset to any team.
Her first skill allows her to synergize with crit-based teams, while her other skills provide a boost to her damage. Of note is that her second skill gives an extra ATK bonus to allies with the [Dragon] trait, which includes all Altria Servants (including Mordred), all Elisabeth Bathory Servants (except Carmilla), Siegfried, and Kiyohime.
In the future, the MoonCancer class is her weakness, although to this date there is only one Servant of MoonCancer class (BB), and she is relevant only during the CCC collaboration event. Jeanne Alter remains one of the strongest single target servants for the foreseeable future.
Avenger Class Typing
Dealing double damage to Ruler and Berserker class Servants, with normal damage against all other classes, Jeanne Alter is a one-size-fits-all offensive servant. There are (currently) no situations in which her damage output is poor, and she can act as the primary damage dealer for most situations.
Good NP Generation
Good hit counts on her two Arts cards and Extra attack, in addition to her passive avenger NP gain (4% per turn), make building NP charge easier than normal.
Enormous Single Target Buster Damage
She has the highest base ATK stat across all Servants currently released. Her skills are focused on increasing her damage output, with two raw damage output skills and a crit-based skill. Her deck also contains two Buster cards, allowing for an NP-B-B Buster chain for increased damage. Her Avenger class typing additionally grants her a 1.1x damage multiplier to all attacks.
Although tied to her Buster buff with a 1000HP self-damage demerit, the ability to have an on-demand Invulnerability skill for one turn allows her to survive through an enemy NP turn or possibly last one turn longer when being the last Servant standing.
Buff Denial on NP
Her NP inflicts a debuff on the targeted opponent that will nullify the next buff used on the opponent. In certain quests, this will be useful in preventing opponents’ buffs that are potentially game-changing (dodge, invulnerability, etc).
No Class Advantage against Basic Classes
The main area she falls short as a damage dealer is that she does normal damage against the basic Servant classes that aren't Berserker (Saber/Lancer/Archer, Rider/Caster/Assassin). This means that some servants of the correct class can manage to outperform Jeanne Alter damage-wise in these situations if you have them available.
Despite having a 1-turn invulnerability skill, this skill also self-inflicts 1000HP on use. She also has low base HP for a 5* Servant, at 11,761. She takes normal damage against the basic Servant classes besides Berserker, meaning if you have a specialized class damage dealer, they generally have better survivability over Jeanne Alter. The main situation in which her durability is above average is against Ruler class opponents, due to half damage received via class advantage, and these are relatively rare.
- Limited/Zero Over, Verdant Sound of Destruction: These give Buster performance buffs, which is the primary source of Jeanne Alter's damage. These directly enhance damage from both her NP and Buster cards.
- Victor of the Moon: A balance of Buster performance (10%/15%) and crit damage bonus (20%/25%) may be useful for those who are able to run her with a crit star generating servant.
- Maiden Leading Chaldea: Grants a Buster performance buff (10%/15%) with critical star generation per turn (3/4), which complements both her damage as well as her first crit-based skill. This CE is also obtainable via the event in which Jeanne Alter was released and is likely more easily accessible for players who played during her event.
- Halloween Princess: This grants starting NP gauge and a bonus to her NP damage, which enable her to quickly use her NP and deal more damage in doing so. This may not be as good as a Buster performance buff as it does not affect her normal attacks, but this still allows for a quicker NP out of the gate with added NP damage, and works well with her if other options are not available.
Self-Modification EX – At max level, a +50% crit damage boost and +800 star absorption rate is sizable if you are able to generate crit stars for her to use. However, this skill is a bit more situational than her other two skills (requires crit stars), so this skill can be left for last.
Dragon Witch EX – The party damage boost is comparable to that of Charisma A, except with a bonus to allies that have the [Dragon] trait. The actual damage boost itself is not as great as her third skill (up to 20% at max level), but stacks multiplicatively with her third skill and affects the entire party, making this skill useful to level after her third.
Transient Dream A – The greatest damage boost to her NP in a single chunk comes from her self Buster buff (up to 50% at max level), which makes this skill high priority.
