"Shall I show you what gods are like~?"
Your dependable Shrine Maiden Fox Tamamo-no-Mae has descended as the premier Arts support, blessing her team with a teamwide skill cooldown reduction, healing and NP charge on her NP, and a targetable 50% Arts buff skill for 3 turns. Despite her frail act, Tamamo's 60% self-defense buff frees up defensive skills for her teammates, while her guaranteed NP drain provides excellent boss control. This devoted miko's unrivalled support in enabling multiple NP's and skill uses while sustaining the team makes her a consistent prime pick for long and difficult content.
However, the Sun Goddess doesn't particularly shine outside of Arts teams. Her barely-above-average NP gain means she needs to rely on Arts chains to quickly fill up her NP gauge and keep the NP chains going. Although she doesn't provide critical damage support, insane damage spikes, or instant NP charge, her devotion to helping the team pump out consistent NP's makes her a keeper for the long game.
Reliable Skill Cooldown Reduction
In an Arts team, Tamamo can create a virtuous cycle of consistent NP's and skill activations. With another servant who can provide NP charge through skills, Tamamo will have excellent NP uptime.
Auspicious Uptime on 50% Arts Buff
Fox Wedding's dedicated buff not only provides a power spike to Arts-based DPS servants, but the 5-turn CD at max results in a fantastic uptime if combined with Tamamo's NP. As the only source of such a powerful and long-lasting Arts buff, Tamamo can be used to enable fast farming with certain NP-spamming Arts Servants.
Excellent Stall Potential
Tamamo's combination of healing, guaranteed NP reduction, and up to 60% defense buff (30% for three turns) makes her excellent at surviving normal attacks and stalling the enemy.
Unlike Zhuge Liang (El Melloi II), a bit more than half of Tamamo's team support comes from her NP. This slow start makes her harder to utilize for farming, and thus pushes her more towards survival-based challenging content instead.
Average NP Gain
Tamamo's uneven hit counts and low np gain rate result in average NP gain on her Arts cards, and subpar NP gain elsewhere. Without Arts chains, it's difficult to take advantage of her NP to charge and reduce skill cooldowns as often as possible.
Arts Niche Only
This fox's final destination is on an Arts team. Although her NP is fantastic for almost everyone, her dedicated Arts buff and reliance on Arts chains means she functions best on an Arts team, compared to other supports who have better general usage.
Opportunity Cost on Fox Wedding
Fox Wedding's additional heal often requires prioritizing between two different allies when one needs Arts buffing and the other needs healing. Sometimes the heal will also go to waste when buffing the primary DPS.
Craft Essence Recommendation
As an NP-reliant support Servant, Tamamo wants to build up her NP as soon as possible. Thus, Craft Essences that promote NP gain (per turn) are preferred, while Starting NP Gauge will work well for jump starting her np cycles. Alternatively, Supportive CEs are also excellent.
Prisma Cosmos: 8% per turn may not seem like much, but passive NP generation allows for NP gain even on DPS servant's turns. Mathematically, Tamamo also gains more NP gauge with Prisma Cosmos than she does with NP gain Craft Essences, assuming she applies her Arts buff to a teammate. Alternatives: Awakened Will, March of the Saints.
Fragments of 2030: This staple offensive support CE helps add some Critical Support to Tamamo's repertoire. Great for making Arts crit teams even more consistent.
Kaleidoscope: With near instant access to her NP, Tamamo can get the NP fox-ball rolling on even turn one. Alternatives include Imaginary Element or Dragon's Meridian.
Tamamo's Fan Club: Tamamo's Bond CE provides a permanent 15% Arts buff so long as she is on the field, a valuable performance boost.
Level Up Skill Recommendation
- Once Curse reaches level 10, its guaranteed NP drain makes Tamamo far more consistent in stall strategies. It's her second best on-demand utility.
- While Morph's defense up is great, its additional 30% pinch defense buff doesn't scale with levels. Compared to the overall impact of Curse and Fox Wedding, Morph is less important and should be maxed last.
- Fox's Wedding is Tamamo's signature skill, and doubles as a clutch heal after her second interlude. It cements her as the premier Arts support, and should be maxed first.
