Overview
- This battle is against Medusa (Saber) with three HP Bars (227k, 242k, 284k HP), who also summons a Rider-Class Cerberus enemy (127k HP).
- The battle has a few gimmicks that can take the Master by surprise if not prepared. However, with proper setup, budget team compositions can clear this encounter with minimal pain (see video links).
- Medusa has an unremovable passive that removes 1 latest Defensive Buff whenever attacking, along with a minor 10% DEF buff.
- The enemy Servant gains Invincible (2 times, 3 turns) after Command Card selection if any Servants' NP Gauge reaches 100%! This means Ignore Invincible effects must be set up beforehand. Masters can elect to burn two normal attacks before NPs to also cancel out the two hits of invincibility.
- She will only cast this once the first time a Servant's NP charge reaches 100%.
- She also has a normal skill that gives her 3-time, 3-turn Invincibility. Bringing Ignore Invincibility effects in general will be helpful for this battle.
- The boss summons Cerberus to the field at battle start, and again every 2 turns if there is none on the field.
- The Cerberus's normal attacks drain 20% NP Gauge each hit, and it will gain 1 NP charge each time as well!
- Note that Cerberus must also be defeated to clear this battle if it is still on the field.
- On first break, Medusa will kill the Cerberus on the field if present, clears all buffs and debuffs from herself, and then charges her NP to MAX! Note that her NP hits a single target and has a chance of inflicting the Petrify status effect for a turn.
- On second break, Medusa gains permanent Debuff Immunity, along with a deadly 70% chance to instant kill when attacking a Petrified target! She both has a skill and her NP that can inflict the Petrify effect, making her attacks during her final HP bar potentially extremely deadly if left unchecked.
Team Recommendations
- Strong Single Target Archers to take down Medusa (Saber), along with a backline Single Target Assassin or other option to take down the Rider Class Cerberus mob are good selections for this encounter.
- Ideally, the damage dealer for Medusa Saber also has Ignore Invincible effects available, to deal with her Invincibility effect.
- NP Gauge and Damage Support is helpful as always for the damage dealer's Card type of choice. Koyanskaya, Oberon, Merlin, Waver, Altria Caster, Tamamo, and Skadi are all excellent choices.
- Taunt Support is also helpful, since the boss's normal attacks have detrimental effects including defensive buff removal, and her NP can inflict the Petrify debuff. Chen Gong is a particularly standout option since he also provides strong offensive support and NP Gauge Charge to the party, along with his low cost.
- Ignore Invincible Support or CEs are an option for covering damage dealers who do not innately have Ignore Invincible in their own kit.
- Note that the Mystic Code in this battle is mandatory and cannot be changed, although it is a powerful mystic code that has skills that are similar to the Chaldea Battle Uniform (complete with an Order Change skill).
