"I really don't like it when too many people flock to the underworld all at once. Making cages to trap souls is a pain...and I'm not sure if I can make this place comfortable for everyone..."

Regal yet innocent, fearsome yet gentle, this Ruler of the Underworld is a great combination of grace, beauty, and might. A versatile Buster Lancer with a well-balanced, multi-purpose and synergistic skill set, Ereshkigal assists Chaldea Masters effectively as both a farming specialist and a durable support/DPS hybrid for other content.

To start with, Ereshkigal is excellent at wave-clearing thanks to her second skill - Mana Burst (Cage). Acting as both a massive NP Battery and Buster Steroid at the same time, this skill allows her to be used independently in day-to-day and event farming to great effect. Within a team-setting, Ereshkigal offers a generous teamwide NP Gain buff, Max HP buff and Defense buff for 3 turns with her third skill - Blessing of Kur. This skill also grants a unique status that ties into her Noble Phantasm - Kur Ki Gal Irkalla.

Her NP is special as, aside from dealing AoE Damage and further buffing her Buster Performance, Kur Ki Gal Irkalla also grants all the holders of the Blessing of Kur status a 20% Attack boost for 3 turns. At first glance, this may not seem like much, but with Ereshkigal’s staggeringly high NP gain from her Arts card and her NP Battery from Mana Burst (Cage), Ereshkigal can use her Noble Phantasm more than once within that 3-turn period. On her own, Ereshkigal also has amazing durability thanks to her massive HP pool, high debuff resistance and her third skill - The Secret Great Crown. It grants her strong hard-survivability in the form of Invincibility as well as a chance to gain Instant Death Immunity, Debuff Immunity and Buff Removal Resistance for one turn.

Despite all her great qualities and the sheer number of effects in her kit, Ereshkigal suffers from a common issue plaguing many Servants: her wide coverage in roles makes her less powerful than a specialist. In addition, despite that amazing Arts card, her NP Gain is rather irregular in practice as she needs to draw that single Arts card and position it right to charge her NP quickly in lengthy battles. Furthermore, Ereshkigal’s attack stat is downright low, and it is a testament to her offensive steroids that her damage output is still decent, if weaker than her main competition.

Overall, while she may not be as good at sheer face-melting as her she is at melting our cold and frigid hearts, Ereshkigal’s versatility and supportive toolbox ensures she can practically fit into almost any Master’s roster.

Gameplay Tip

Ereshkigal presents an NP Gain dynamic that is a bit different than the “normal” Servant NP Gain distribution. With one of the best Arts in the game, and multiplicative stacking on Blessing of Kur and Territory Creation A+, positioning and abusing that Arts card is essential to a great performance.

Masters can boost her effective NP Gain by sticking to the following:

  1. Focus on placing her Arts card last in the chain to profit from Overkill/Overgauge and better NP Gain values.

  2. Triggering Overkill is essential as it vastly improves her NP Gain and synergizes especially well with Critical Hits for a back-to-back NP while Blessing of Kur is active.

  3. “Count” Command Cards to predict when her Arts card appear and prepare Critical Stars/skills for that window. See Ishtar writeup’s Gameplay Tip for advice on how card counting works.

  4. Masters can draw 2 Arts cards in a 3-turn period if the Command Cards are set to be shuffled. This occurs every 3-turns, via (Mystic Code) skills, or if a Servant dies.

  5. AQQ can work well, but often misses out on Overkill. weirdly, QQA can work on low HP enemies.

🟢 Strengths

Strong Farming Servant

Mana Burst (Cage) combines the best of both worlds with a Buster Steroid and 50% NP Battery, granting Ereshkigal an incredible advantage as a farming Servant, especially when combined with 50% Starting NP Gauge CE and/or powerful supports. Kur Ki Gal Irkalla also has an Overcharge Effect that raises her Buster Performance before dealing damage, allowing Ereshkigal to reach a sufficient level of damage on her NP.

Good Team Support

Blessing of Kur is the crux of her support potential, granting several useful effects. The Defense Buff and Max HP Buff make her team highly durable, while the 30% increase in NP Gain and the potential Attack buff when combined with her Noble Phantasm are useful regardless of team composition. With a reasonable 6 turn cooldown, Ereshkigal can keep her support up reliably as well.

Good NP Gain and Consecutive NP Potential

Between her (at max) 30% NP Gain buff and her 50% NP Charge, Ereshkigal has incredible NP Gain potential if Masters draw her single Arts card at the right moment. Between its sheer hit count, Territory Creation A+, the NP Gain buff, overkill and Ereshkigal’s base NP Gain, it’s very possible to (re-)charge her NP within a 3-turn time span or even back-to-back, especially if Masters land that coveted critical hit.

Strong Survivability

The underworld’s protection must be incredible, as between her very large base HP, her 20% Defense buff and her 3000 Max HP buff from Protection from the Underworld, Ereshkigal can shrug off basic attacks from enemy bosses rather easily. In addition, she still has access to The Secret Great Crown, which grants Invincibility for one turn. This skill also has an 80% chance per effect individually to grant her three uncommon defensive effects in Debuff Immunity, Instant Death Immunity, and Buff Removal Resistance. Ideal for pesky bosses that bypass the standard hard survival skills.

🔴 Weaknesses

Mediocre Damage Output

Compared to many of her SSR Lancer peers, Ereshkigal has a very low Attack stat. Furthermore, her minor sustained steroid is locked behind pulling off her Noble Phantasm when her Blessing of Kur status is up. . Even with all her buffs active, including the 50% Buster Performance from Mana Burst (Cage) and her Noble Phantasm, her overall damage will be rather lackluster compared to more offensively-oriented Lancers.

Over-reliant on Arts card for NP Gain

Despite Ereshkigal’s high NP gain rate, her NP gain on cards other than her Arts card are notably lackluster with her Quick and Extra card suffering from her low base NP Gain per hit. As she only has one Arts card, this means her active NP Gain is inconsistent and highly dependent on drawing the right card at the right time when her Mana Burst (Cage) is on cooldown.

Level Up Skill Recommendations

MedSkillIcon

Blessing of Kur EX
Apply [Blessing of Kur] to all allies (3 turns). (Enables additional effects from her NP) Increase DEF for all allies (3 turns). Increase NP Gain for all allies (3 turns). Increase Max HP for all allies (3 turns).

Given her versatility, Ereshkigal’s skill leveling priority will depend on her Masters’ focus on where and when they want to use her. In practice, Ereshkigal functions best with at least both Mana Burst (Cage) and Blessing of Kur maxed, while The Secret Great Crown can be leveled at a slower pace (although ideally it ought to be maxed eventually).

  • The Secret Great Crown A is her chief survivability tool, hopefully granting her a wide variety of defensive guarantees for one turn. As the main appeal of this skill is in the guaranteed Invincibility, which does not scale with levels like the additional secondary benefits do, it is of lower priority than the other two skills. It is still worth raising this skill to at least level 6 for the reduced cooldown. Level this last.

  • Mana Burst (Cage) A+ is her main wave-clearing tool which is crucial for Masters wanting to use her frequently for farming. As both the NP battery effect and Buster Performance buff increase according to skill level, it is highly recommended to raise this skill as soon as possible. Most of the content in the game revolve around farming, so this skill is arguably her most important skill.

  • Blessing of Kur EX brings the majority of Ereshkigal’s team presence and is the centerpiece of her skill set in lengthier fights. Masters who have an abundance of farming options and lean toward using Ereshkigal for her DPS/Support hybrid potential should consider raising this skill over Mana Burst (Cage) for better uptime and value on all of its effects. Level this second.

🖼️ Craft Essence Recommendations

Thanks to her stacked skill set, Ereshkigal can function in most teams independently, giving her plenty of usable Craft Essence choices. Masters wanting to take advantage of her waveclear potential should consider Starting NP Gauge as it allows her to immediately access her Noble Phantasm, both for farming and to quickly stack Attack buffs from Blessing of Kur. Both NP Damage Up and Attack Up scale multiplicatively with her Buster Performance buffs and should ideally be prioritized. Though less effective, Buster Performance Up is still a decent option to improve her overall performance as she has a Buster-centric deck.

  • Golden Sumo / Aerial Drive / Holy Night Supper / Starry Nights / The Classic Three Great Heroes: Hybrid Craft Essences that grant two or three beneficial stats for Ereshkigal, with the main purpose of boosting her NP performance and granting an easier time to kickstart her teamwide Attack boost at the same time.

  • Kaleidoscope / The Imaginary Element / Dragon’s Meridian: Pure Starting NP Gauge CEs are a great option, and if Masters need two back-to-back NPs, Saving her Mana Burst (cage) is ideal.

  • Black Grail / Heaven’s Feel: These Craft Essences grant the largest boost to Ereshkigal’s Noble Phantasm damage, allowing her to overcome her lower damage ceiling compared to other Lancers, especially when combined with NP Battery Supports like Zhuge Liang or Merlin.

Character Info

The goddess of the underworld in Sumerian mythology. She wields a spear-shaped cage, capable of skewering her enemies, trapping souls, and summoning lightning at will. She is the ruler of the underworld, and is to be feared. From the day of her birth, she was entrusted with the governance of the underworld. When the Age of Gods ended, she disappeared without ever knowing the surface world or freedom. In this form, she has manifested not as the goddess Ereshkigal, but as a Pseudo-Servant whose vessel is the soul of a human girl who shared certain characteristics with her. She claims her job is simply to watch over the souls of humans as befits a goddess of the underworld. "...I really don't like it when too many people flock to the underworld all at once. Making cages to trap souls is a pain...and I'm not sure if I can make this place comfortable for everyone..." As you can see, she doesn't do a spectacular job of hiding just how much she likes taking care of people. She is truly the underworld's (red) angel.

Profile 1

Height/Weight: 159cm, 47kg Origin: Ancient Mesopotamian Mythology Region: Mesopotamia Alignment: Chaotic-Evil Gender: Female "I don't like humans at all. The living give me the creeps. But if you really want to spend time together, I wouldn't mind, as long as you're willing to die first."

Profile 2

According to Mesopotamian mythology, she governed the growth and decay of plants, employed snakes and dragons, and controlled the gallû spirits who were the underworld's workers. Ishtar, the mistress of heaven, and Ereshkigal, the mistress of the underworld, are rivals. For Mesopotamians, Ishtar (Inanna) is the goddess of the harvest who represents human life: the Great Earth Mother. Ereshkigal, on the other hand, represents the death of all humans, making her the Terrible Earth Mother. Myth tells of Ishtar journeying to the underworld, where Ereshkigal kills her. Later, Ishtar is revived, but the reason for Ishtar's journey, and why Ereshkigal was so angry are never explained. In FGO, they are described as being two sides of the same coin. Ishtar and Ereshkigal... These two gods are one, perhaps even having split off from a single divinity.

Profile 3

[Kur Ki Gal Irkalla] Rank: A NP Type: Anti-Mountain Range: 10-999 Maximum Targets: 1000 The Bellows of the Underworld that Trample the Sacred Mountain The same as Ishtar's Noble Phantasm, An Gal Ta Ki Gal Šè. However, Ereshkigal does not hurl her attack from the heavens themselves, but strikes up from the depths of the underworld, rending the land asunder from beneath its surface. This tremendous blast creates devastating earthquakes and tectonic movement that destroy mount Ebih. It may not quite have the firepower of Ishtar's Venus blaster, but the true strength of this Noble Phantasm is that it changes the land, making it part of the underworld. As Ereshkigal has absolute authority within the underworld, all who fight alongside her will receive powerful protection.

Profile 4

Magic Resistance: D Nullifies any magecraft that is ranked D and under. Being in the dreary environment of the underworld for so long has made death an everyday thing, substantially lowering Ereshkigal's Magic Resistance. The Secret Great Crown: A A divine crown said to have been created from the treasure taken away from Ishtar. As they are like Heaven and Earth, and two sides of the same coin, Ereshkigal possesses the same Authorities as Ishtar, but they have been altered to have somewhat dark (read: gloomy) effects. Mana Burst (Cage): A+ Ereshkigal is serious, hardworking, and a bit of a melancholy goddess. At every opportunity, she stores magical energy in her spear-cages, and she uses it during battle. Blessing of Kur: EX One of Ereshkigal's Authorities, granted to her as the ruler and pillar of the underworld. As she governed the underworld until the very end, she became the underworld, and it protected its queen. It supports all of her allies, and also alters the performance of her Noble Phantasm.

Profile 5

She has a passive and introverted personality. Her great pride and intellect cause her to sacrifice every part of herself to her duties as the goddess of death and decay. She is jealous of all things beautiful, laughs at things that are ugly, and kills the things she desires in order to prevent others from laying claim to them. ...That was the original Ereshkigal, but after she fused with the girl who became her vessel, she came to admit that all such tendencies were embarrassing and inappropriate, and so she swept her brutal nature under the rug. However, since she is still very impulsive, she turns back into the terrifying (and disappointing) goddess of myth whenever she gets angry. This behavior is entirely Ereshkigal, so she may seem both cooler-headed and yet more self-deprecating than the girl who is serving as her vessel. She may sound a lot like Ishtar, but she also talks like an elegant lady at times. Whenever she inadvertently acts meekly or goes into a panic, she may overexaggerate and pepper her speech with unnecessary adjectives, but that is a remnant of her original, polite nature. Ishtar, who should have been raised to be prim and proper, talks like a bit of a brat since she was so spoiled and raised as a carefree child. On the other hand, Ereshkigal, who spent her entire life working hard in the underworld, picked up the mannerisms and speech of a cherished (read: sheltered) noblewoman.

Profile 6

Ereshkigal has long been tormented by the fact that no one likes her. "I want to be able to live freely like Ishtar. I want to meet someone who accepts me for who I am, for being the mistress of the underworld AND for what I am beyond that." That was her dearest wish, and sounds rather like what a lovestruck maiden might hope for. "Look, I won't deny I'm playing the heel here, but I'm useful to humanity BECAUSE I'm evil! I don't understand why you're all so frightened of me!" Even as she moped about, she saw what was happening in Mesopotamia and realized that it was heading towards its end. So she decided to protect humanity in her own way by joining the Three Goddess Alliance and becoming an enemy of Uruk. After that, a lot of things happened and she sank into the abyss. Then a lot of other things happened and she chose to accept herself as she is and cooperate with Chaldea's mission. The spear that she holds in her hand is called the Burning Shrine, Meslamtaea. Its light warms the depths of the earth, and was specially granted to her current Spirit Origin.

Thank you, Master...for trusting in my Spirit Origin.
You're just one insignificant human who came from a distant land and time, but you are my one and only special little grape.

Bond Level 1
And so, as a special summon in this vessel, Ereshkigal of the underworld has come to help you out.

............
...Wh-what's with that sly grin?
Normally, I would ask you to give me half of your Authority, but you're a human...
I'm going to let you off the hook, so be grateful!
Bond Level 2
Fighting in the surface world is so tiring...
To be honest, I underestimated it...
But more than just exhausting things, there are so many fun things around here... I like it.
The flowers, wind, stars, and water are all so brilliant.
Best of all, I'm learning a lot just by watching what everyone does.
One day, I'm going to make a city that'll be comparable to the surface world.
Bond Level 3
Master. I-I want to ask you something...
The other Heroic Spirits just asked what I did to make you use me so much.
D-did I curse you without realizing!?
Eh? No? You're just relying on me as a good friend?
Friend!?
R-right...we're friends!
Bond Level 4
As long as there are battles to fight, I can be with you.
But as long as there are battles to fight, you'll keep getting hurt...
I didn't realize it because I was having so much fun, but I guess I need to work hard to bring you back to your normal life as swiftly as possible...
So...maybe it's best if I just imprison you in the underworld...
Bond Level 5
I'm sorry.
I know what I said earlier was weird. Please forget it.
Master, you're the sort who lives in the present.
I am a goddess who lives in the depths of the earth and has spent so much time looking up at you. Your happiness is my purpose.
As eventually all things lose their shine, I will continue to look over you from the shadows.
Not as a goddess of the underworld, but as a dear friend.
Bond Level 5 (After Final Ascension)
Ah... My powers over the sun, transformation, and the underworld have combined, and reached their limit...
Teehee. Nothing scares me now!
I am Ereshkigal, goddess of the underworld! I govern the land of the dead and wield a whole lot of power!
...Okay, my signature phrase is perfect.
Just you watch, Master. No matter what other goddesses may appear in the future, know that none will be better than me at protecting you!
Conversation 1
Hey there, don't just stay in bed!
Even if there's no event going on, we have to do some training at least.
Regular effort is what's going to save everyone in the end!
Conversation 2
Don't forget that we are human and goddess before we are Master and Servant!
If you ever do something that goes against humanity, you will face my divine punishment!
Conversation 3
You are my Master, yes, but don't be so casual about asking me for things!
I have my dignity and position to consider, you know!
But...m-maybe sometimes you could rely on me as a friend...
N-no, never mind.
Conversation 4 (Ishtar, Ishtar (Rider))
...Whoa, I didn't realize you knew Ishtar.
I have a LOT to say about that, but I also feel sorry for her.
After all, at least once a year, she ends up making some cataclysmic, world-ending mistake...
How do I know this?
Because it also involves me...so of course I would know.
Conversation 5 (Gilgamesh)
Ack, it's the annoying version of Gilgamesh!
How did you manage to form a contract with HIM!?
That guy's such a tyrant, you'd have to either be a great hero or a total fool to even start a conversation with him.
I see...
So you're THAT kind of person, I see...
Conversation 6 (Gilgamesh (Caster))
Teehee... I see the more levelheaded version of Gilgamesh is here too.
That King of Heroes owes me a few favors, so maybe I'll have him prepare us a wonderful dinner cruise or something next time.
After all, if I don't make a move soon, Ishtar might beat me to the punch♥
Conversation 7 (Enkidu)
So is the Enkidu here well-mannered?
Back in the day, even Gilgamesh said "I am aware of how cold and merciless I can be, but even I think something is wrong with my friend." Enkidu is no different than a sharpened axe...
Huh? Still no different? Enkidu's ranked as one of the most dangerous individuals in Chaldea?
...I see.
I suppose it's best to befriend Enkidu...
Conversation 8 (Quetzalcoatl, Quetzalcoatl (Samba/Santa))
Whoa, I didn’t know Quetzacoatl was here! Oh my… I shouldn’t have tormented her so much in the underworld, then tossed her to the surface world like she was garbage…! There’s no way I can beat that muscle-brained goddess… Maaaster… Please hide meee!!!
Conversation 9 (Attila the San(ta))
I didn't think Dumuzid's Authority would work like this...
But be careful. If you just haphazardly increase your Divinity, your dormant Spirit Origin might come to the surface.
Likes
What I like? Obviously that would be--
N-no, nothing.
I am the Mistress of the Underworld. My hobbies include climbing mountains and making cages... I'm a gloomy woman.
This place is too bright and shiny, it's a bit uncomfortable.
Dislikes
Things I don't like... Obviously Ishtar, extravagance, and useless humans.
Huh?
You're a useless human who loves to indulge in extravagance!?
Seriously? Now that I think about it, you're pretty ditzy...which means you'll need me to properly educate you!
About the Holy Grail
Holy Grail? Of course I'm interested.
If it's a superb magical energy resource, I'm sure there are many practical uses for it.
As longas you're not wasteful, I believe there's no such thing as saving too much.
During an Event
It seems there's an event going on.
This reliable goddess will give you a hand!
Birthday
G-good day, I have no business with you but I came to see your face…
B-by the way is there anything you want? If you insist on it, I could go shopping with you all day today.
Summon
Servant, Lancer-class.
Ereshkigal, Mistress of the Underworld.
I have come in answer to your summons.
I don't like to help a single person exclusively, but I'll help you out since you summoned me. You should be grateful.

Hey! Why are you so quiet!?
I'll have you know that I'm a proper goddess!
Merry Christmas in the Underworld 1
Welcome. Did you think there was nothing here because you’re in the underworld? Hmph. If there’s something you want, I’ll exchange it for you.
Merry Christmas in the Underworld 2
No matter who it is, I will not treat anyone who attempts to descend to the underworld badly. Take whatever you desire.
Merry Christmas in the Underworld 3
Here you go. Your attempts may be futile but good luck.
Merry Christmas in the Underworld 4
You sure do exchange a lot. I don’t dislike hard workers.
Merry Christmas in the Underworld 5
An exchange shop is interesting. Because you know… there’s never been a shop or anything in the underworld…
Merry Christmas in the Underworld 6
As the Mistress of the Underworld, I’ve been very strict, but I have to say, that was a satisfying descent into the underworld. Uh… Ahem. Then if I may… Merry Christmas! Let’s meet again, Master of Chaldea!
Merry Christmas in the Underworld 7
The underworld’s shop is now closed. I had fun! Don’t forget to exchange your items after all your hard work♥
