Noble Phantasm

“What are you doing, Master? …Writing a report? I see, a mission report. Alright, I’ll help you. I’m quite skilled at writing.”
Rider’s Master in Fate/Samurai Remnant, Yui Shousetsu joins the roster during the Samurai Remnant Collaboration event as a Support Arts Caster. Her supportive effects are mostly centered around Arts users, although her NP is capable of giving additional benefits that are conditional upon the target having multiple Card type buffs active.
Resshinjunmei - Fushakushinmyou is her Noble Phantasm, which will restore a generous amount of HP to all allies depending on overcharge, and has three conditional effects depending on what Card buffs are active on party members. If a Quick buff is active on the target, they gain an ATK buff; with Arts buffs, they gain a Crit Damage buff; with Buster buffs, they gain an NP Damage buff, all of which last 3 turns. Since she is unable to provide Quick or Buster buffs from her own skill set, she will have to rely on the target’s skills or CE options to take advantage of all of her NP’s effects.
Her skills provide a spread of self-sustenance and party offensive support. Her first skill, Counterfeit Life (Subspecies) C, is primarily for her own survival, giving her a 1-time, 5-turn Guts, a minor amount of HP regen per turn across 5 turns, and 1-time, 3-turn debuff immunity. Her second skill, Patriot’s Tactics B, is where the bulk of her supportive power comes from, with up to 20% NP charge for the entire party, along with party NP Damage buffs, Crit Stars every turn, and a mild ATK debuff for the enemy party. Her third skill, Magecraft (Elements) B+, further increases her own NP Gauge by up to 30%, while giving one ally of choice a decent Arts and Crit Damage buff. Altogether, she has a total of 50% NP charge for herself and 20% for the party, giving her decent access to her NP to activate its additional support effects. The selfish nature of her first skill, however, leaves a bit to be desired, since although it helps with her survivability, with her low ATK stat and 0.9x Caster damage multiplier, she won’t really be contributing much damage output herself even if she survives.
Overall, Yui Shousetsu is an interesting support option that works best with damage dealers or other supports that can provide Quick and Buster Card type buffs. This makes party lineup selection for her a bit more restricted if trying to maximize the number of buffs she provides. However, she does have the potential of stacking her NP multiple times across turns if enough charge can be provided from herself or allies. Her buffs also scale with NP level, and at NP5 can reach a combined NP Damage +60%, Arts +30%, and ATK +30%, which can continue stacking with further NP usage. As a result, with proper setup, her supportive ceiling is quite high. For general use cases, however, there are more easy-to-use Arts Support options, even among free-to-play options, such as Xu Fu. If Masters have her join their Chaldea, if Masters are willing to spend time to plan out the best way to utilize her, she can be a supportive powerhouse.
🟢 Strengths
Party NP Charge
She comes with the ever-handy party 20% NP charge skill, which is just at the threshold required to fully max out the NP Gauge for an ally with a Kaleidoscope CE equipped. She also has a 30% NP charge for herself which helps with activating her NP more conveniently.
Offensive Support Coverage
Provided the target does have Quick and Buster buffs active, Yui Shousetsu is capable of providing all multiplicative offensive buff types: NP Damage (from her skill and NP), ATK (from her NP), and Arts Card (from her skill). Given many of her buffs come from her NP, she can technically stack her buffs multiple times if Masters can set up a way for her to fire off her NP across successive turns.
🔴 Weaknesses
Conditional Offensive Buffs
Her NP has three conditional buffs requiring Arts, Buster, and Quick buffs to be active on the targets. Yui Shousetsu herself can only provide Arts buffs, which means that the remaining buffs must be provided from other party members or CEs. Otherwise, the extra buffs will not activate and some of her offensive support potential is lost.
Level Up Skill Recommendations
Since Masters are most likely to be using Yui Shousetsu as a Support, the most important skills for her in this role are her 2nd and 3rd skill. The first skill can be left alone pretty safely since it does not have any support effects. The general recommended leveling order is 2 > 3 >> 1.
- Counterfeit Life (Subspecies) C – This skill only has selfish effects, including self Guts, self HP regen, and self Debuff Immunity. Since this does not directly affect her ability as a support, this skill can be left for last, and can be left at Level 1 if materials are lacking.
- Patriot's Tactics B – This is the most important supportive skill for her, since all effects including party NP charge, NP Damage, Stars per turn, and the ATK debuff scale with level. This skill should be leveled first and to max if possible to reach the 20% NP charge threshold.
- Magecraft (Elements) B+ – This skill also provides very helpful offensive buffs to a single target, making it useful to level. All effects, including Arts buff, Crit damage, and self NP charge scale with level. This can be leveled second, although maxing it out eventually is also ideal.
🖼️ Craft Essence Recommendations
Since Yui Shousetsu’s NP contains some of her support effects, a Starting NP Gauge CE can be helpful. She also benefits from the rare Party Buster / Quick Buff CE. Otherwise, general support Servant CEs such as those with Crit Star Regen, or any Event Bonus / Bond EXP Bonus CE would be helpful.
- Kaleidoscope / Winter Crystal / The Imaginary Element – These CEs provide a pure NP Gauge boost and enable Yui Shousetsu to use her NP immediately. This can also potentially enable her to loop her NP more than once to stack further buffs.
- Ox-Demon King / The Wandering Tales of Shana-oh – These are the rare CEs that provide an actual buff to the party. Ox-Demon King provides a Buster buff to all allies at battle start for 3 turns. The Wandering Tales of Shana-oh is a bit more difficult to use, providing 1-turn Quick buffs on death, meaning it will need to be placed on another ally that will ideally die through something such as a self-Death effect (Arash, Oda Nobukatsu, Habetrot, etc.), and only takes effect on the next turn.
- A Fragment of 2030 / King of the Seraph – These provide Critical Stars each turn. When combined with Yui Shousetsu’s multiple crit damage buffs, she can help make the most out of the Stars generated from these CEs.
- Chaldea Lunchtime – Placeholder CE for any bonus EXP or drop CE.
