Noble Phantasm

"Grudge, vengeance. I am the poison that heralds death, the flame that scorches the soul. ...You understand what that means, right?"
Edmond Dantès, known by titles such as The Count of Monte Cristo or The King of the Cavern, stands as one of history’s most renowned Avengers. While he remains a Quick-focused Avenger like his earlier incarnation, this newer manifestation is far more ruthless. His strategy is straightforward yet devastating: inflict Burn on his enemies, then repeatedly unleash overwhelming damage against those afflicted until they are utterly incinerated.
Dantes’s kit revolves around his second skill - Monte Cristo Mythology C and his Noble Phantasm - Paradis Château d’If A. Monte Cristo Mythology increases his Attack by 30% for 3 turns, grants him Immunity to Poison for 3 turns, Debuffs for 3 times over 3 turns, and most importantly, lets him inflict a small Burn stacks onto his targets whenever he attacks. The last effect is extremely important to his Noble Phantasm’s damage, as it does increasingly more damage depending on how many Burn stacks are. This Noble Phantasm is a single-target nuke with a hit count of 10 that gives him Ignore Invincibility and inflicts Stun onto the target before he deals damage. Further, it reduces the enemy’s defense after dealing damage (scaling with Overcharge). With how this Noble Phantasm functions, Masters will want to inflict as many Burn stacks onto the enemy before using it, which makes any Command Codes that grant Burn on the card an attractive option to improve his consistency.
His other skills are far from weak as well. His first Skill - Iron Determination (Flame) EX is a standard dual-card booster skill for his two main offensive card types - Buster and Quick, with a 2 times, 3 turns Invincibility to help him survive a bit longer with his frail Avenger build. Fourteen Stones A is a very stacked skill, increasing his NP Gauge by 50% and providing a sizable 3-turn Critical Damage boost alongside a 3-turn Critical Stars Absorption to ensure he hits hard even when he is not using his Noble Phantasm.
Dantès follows a clear and satisfying game plan. Masters should aim to chain a Brave Chain with his Noble Phantasm to maximize Burn stacks on the enemy. His single-target damage continues to scale as the fight progresses, thanks to the three-turn Defense debuff from his Noble Phantasm. This makes him one of the most effective boss killers in the game—requiring minimal setup but offering an exceptionally high ceiling when properly supported.
That said, he does have notable weaknesses. His greatest silver bullet is Debuff Immunity or high Debuff Resistance, as his damage collapses without Burn stacks on the target. Many major bosses possess these defenses, forcing Masters to rely on allies with multiple debuffs or Command Codes to strip away immunity. Additionally, despite having an Invincibility skill, Dantès remains fragile, and his self-inflicted Burn can become dangerous at low health. Quick teams also lack the sustained survivability of Arts teams, meaning battles often need to be ended quickly before the team runs out of steam or risks being wiped out.
Overall, The Count of Monte Cristo stands out as an exceptional single-target damage dealer with strong applications in most challenge quests. Once his setup is established, there are very few bosses he cannot overwhelm. For Masters who already possess Quick support Servants, he is an outstanding pickup—serving as a specialist boss killer capable of showcasing his full power in the toughest encounters.
🟢 Strengths
Incredible Damage Output Against Burned Targets
The majority of Dantès’s damage comes from his Noble Phantasm, which scales proportionally with the number of Burn stacks on the target. His second skill sets up these stacks, creating strong synergy with Command Codes that inflict Burn or apply other debuffs on attack. This not only boosts his damage but also helps chip away at Debuff Immunity stacks when facing resistant enemies, ensuring his Noble Phantasm can reach its full potential.
Strong Critical Damage Output
Dantes benefits greatly from his Buster–Quick deck, which provides excellent hit counts and naturally generates a large number of Critical Stars. His third skill further enhances his performance by granting a strong boost to Critical Damage along with increased Critical Star Absorption. Combined with his passive Critical Damage bonus and the powerful Crit buffs from Quick-oriented supports like double Scathach-Skadi, Dantes can unleash tremendous damage through his face cards.
🔴 Weaknesses
Walled by Debuff Immunity
Dantès’s damage drops significantly when facing enemies with Debuff or Burn Immunity. Against foes whose Debuff Immunity is chance-based, hit-based, or simply due to high Magic Resistance, he can chip away at those defenses using Command Codes that inflict debuffs or Burn, or with the help of teammates who can apply additional debuffs. However, against enemies that are completely immune to Burn, it is usually better to field a different damage dealer instead.
Can Be Quite Fragile
Unlike most Avengers, who function purely as glass cannons, Dantès does have some defensive tools in his kit—namely, Invincibility, Stun, and even Debuff and Poison Immunity. Nonetheless, he remains quite fragile, and Quick teams generally lack strong survivability. As a result, Dantès often needs to end battles quickly before his team runs out of steam.
Level Up Skill Recommendations
Masters should generally raise all of Dantès’s skills, as each one plays a pivotal role in his offensive performance. Of the three, his third skill deserves the highest priority, as it provides faster access to his Noble Phantasm and a valuable boost to Critical Damage.
- Iron Determination (Flame) EX – Both the Quick and Arts buffs scale with level, though not dramatically, so investing here still provides solid value.
- Monte Cristo Mythology C – Arguably his most important skill, but only the Attack buff scales with level, making it less urgent to max compared to the others.
- Fourteen Stones A – Every effect of this skill scales with level, making it the most impactful investment overall, especially thanks to its NP Gauge Charge.
🖼️ Craft Essence Recommendations
Since Dantès naturally inflicts Burn on his targets, Craft Essences that Increase Damage Against Burned Enemies are excellent choices for him. Beyond this, because both Dantès and most Quick support Servants lack NP Damage buffs in their kits, boosting this stat is the most effective way to raise his Noble Phantasm’s burst potential—especially when paired with Oberon. Finally, Starting NP Gauge remains a universally valuable option, helping him kickstart his Noble Phantasm right from the beginning of battle.
- Honey Lake / To Myself from a Distant Planet / Dual Burning: Craft Essences with both Starting NP Gauge and Increased Damage against Burned enemies are very strong options to improve his overall damage output and consistency.
- The Black Grail / Inverted Rain of Mud / Heaven’s Feel: For more NP-oriented setups that focus on maximizing his NP Damage, these Craft Essences will be standout options.
